Is this normal? 20% plus battery drain overnight...Started at 76 then woke up to 54? And that is on lower power mode! I complained at my local Apple store and they said they hadn't heard such battery drain issues on iOS 16, they are lying. I'm currently on iPhone 14 pro. Worst battery issues I've had with a new phone and I've almost had every one.

I've turned off everything I can think of that drains the battery...which is stupid. I want to use all the new features including the lock screen (astronomy and weather), widgets on lock screen, etc but not at the expense of my battery life!
Your reception is crap, it could be it

This really sucks… no change in 16.0.2; if anything, it seems to be getting worse. I’ve advised my wife not to upgrade to 16. Using my iPhone didn't used to be a drag or stressful. (FWIW, I submitted a bug report to Apple.)

With IOS 16 my screen on time on my iPhone 13mini went from 5-6 hours to 3-4 hours. Using dark mode and just light/middle usage (Safari, Teams chatting, Youtube, WHats App). Also my battery health went from 100% to 94% in a couple of weeks. I can confirm the issue. For my iPhone SE 2020 it´s even more bad, I need to recharge it twice a day.

It’s the same every year. After a big update and new phones the battery health suddenly drops very much and the battery life is much worse than before. But hey. The new iPhones have the best battery life ever. Until next year.

Something is weird… I am aware of poor cellular but c’mon few % gone for little use?

The problem this year is the brand new 14 series is getting worse battery life than the 13 series of last year. This is the first time I can remember that the new iPhones aren’t at least the same battery life.

Exactly the same situation as I posted earlier, reassuring to see someone else suffering and it’s not just me 😅

Have 2 iPhone 14 pros waiting to be activated. I never update my OS unless needed. Currently on 12 pro, had to upgrade to ios15 for Walt Disney World app, phone has been garbage ever since.

I'm 100% convinced that Apple ruins battery and camera performance intentionally with each upgrade that the phone did not ship with. Really troubling that the newest phone is having battery issues out of the box.

Your second sentence negates your first.

No problems here. Though I redid iOS 16 freshly.

I love iOS 16.

Best iOS ever.

Regret updating my iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 16. Battery drain is horrendous and like others, my battery health dropped from 100% to 95% in literally 2-3 weeks. This is with me charging between 30%-80% only. Crazy. If there is a fix, love to know.

That happen with my iPhone 6s too and iPhone 11 before.

Yikes! My battery capacity has gone down 2% in the past few weeks

EDIT: The phone also gets really hot now, doing things that never used to make it hot before (playing music, heavy web browsing etc.)

Did anyone with battery drain problems on iOS 16.0.2 try to update to iOS 16.1 beta? Is it any better with that version?

Oh got you! Yeah I don’t think Apple has figured out the widget thing. They can’t seems to stop apps from using a lot of battery
I'm glad that you saw the tragic and common "Siri Word Omission" where the word "NOT" is missing in

..."we should NOT have to disable features of the OS to get good battery life"... it happens all the time that Siri leaves out a word that makes what you dictated say the 180 degree opposite of what you meant, LOL.

Right? No I got what you were saying for sure!

it is Miles better for sure. I updated yesterday through OTA (iOS 16.1 PB 4). Unplugged at 12.35 AM Currently 10.28 AM & 2H Sot W. 88% Left. I'll be in the Seventies or Sixties with iOS 16.0.2.

*Do note that I factory reset & Setup it as new on 16.0.2 prior to updating.

I've been an iPhone user since I bought an iPhone 4 on launch day and have upgraded most years since. I think I've owned 10 different iPhones now. Every major iOS update I see people complaining about unexpected battery drain after upgrading and I have always dodged those bullets and had no problems - until now. The battery life on my brand-new iPhone 14 Pro Max is noticeable worse than it was on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. My iPhone 14 PM battery is draining about 30% faster than I saw on my 13 PM, maybe even a bit more than that.

I assume this is a software issue. I really hope so. I might have missed something but in all my time as an iPhone owner, and a follower of this web site, I can only remember Apple acknowledging a battery drain issue once and subsequently explicitly listing changes to improve battery life in an iOS update's release notes (I really can't remember what iOS release that was; it was certainly many, many years ago).

Has Apple even acknowledged an issue with increased battery drain on iOS16? I would feel a bit happier if I knew that Apple had acknowledged the problem which I would take as a strong indication that it was investigating fixes. Right now all of these reports, coupled with my personal experience making me feel how real the issue is, plus Apple's failure to acknowledge the issue yet, is extremely disappointing. This is the first time in my history of iPhone ownership when I have felt unhappy with an upgrade and I really don't want to have to wait until the iPhone 15 is released next year to roll the dice again and hope to get back to even just the battery life I had with my 13 PM.

Same, although I have had every iPhone since the 3G. This is for sure the first time I have gotten worse battery life after upgrading. Well more iOS 16 has ruined everything. I can remember battery life that was just the same as the prior model, but never worse. Really disheartening.
