It's really so irritating that i'm considering performing another clean install next week. I have like 12 hours a day background activity when it is completely turned off makes no sense.
Maybe interesting for you too, I have been looking at this mail background activity for a few days now and this is my observation:

I force restarted my phone and noticed that “Mail” stopped its background activity a few hours after I did that. When I force restarted again, another mail app I use named ”Spark” started with the same background activity in stead of “Mail”. Then after about 24 hours it just stopped and it’s been like that for over 2 days now.

Not sure what that means, but it seems like it’s related to the accounts that I have on the phone and maybe something like syncing with the server? I’m going to check what it does when I update to 16.4 when it’s out, I can imagine that it will try to do something like that again…we’ll see.

I basically did the same thing yesterday and it has been gone since 8 am. I've had a suspicion for a while now but I do think part of it is some syncing bug with maybe Gmail and the only way to kind of re-sync is by force restarting it. I'll keep an eye on it as well.

Battery life on my iPhone 14 Pro is still terrible under iOS 16.4 and just today my phone was getting really warm and I was losing about 10% in a matter of 15 minutes. I've already turned off background app refresh but don't want to turn off anything more – what's the reason in buying the latest device in the first place then? At this point, I've given up on iOS 16..

iPhone 14 pro max, bought late September, is anyone else down to 95% battery health like me? Do I hold the record? Makes me wonder if Apple uses different battery suppliers but I believe they source them all from one company.

I will be available via carrier pigeon if anyone has any info they can share with me on this topic. Tia from ALL of us.

Why yes, I did find it, and I’ve been using it, but I believe it may be too little, too late.

I do fast charge a lot while driving as well, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

My battery needs a health pack. ⛑️
Indeed, it does. Let’s email Craig Federighi and see who gets a response first. You in? Maybe he can give us some useful insights?

I’m very pleased with the battery life of my 14 Pro on iOS 16.4. Getting approximately 3 days between full charge cycles. I’m not a power user though and the phone is on optimized settings being in low power during idle times, sleep focus and disabled always on display. AOD in my experience consumes a lot of power. Battery health after about 6 months is still at 100 percent.
