iOS 17.1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements (iPhone 15 models)

I just noticed that the contacts poster feature is completely broken for me on iOS 17.1 on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Is it just me? The following happens and can be 100% reproduced:

  • if I try to change a contact poster, it says "Failed to load asset" and returns to the previous screen
  • the previously set contact poster doesn't show on the contact, it just stays black
Other 2 friends of mine have the exact same issues.

Is that some Apple server-side issue or is the feature just broken?

Contact poster works fine on my iPhone 15 Pro Max running 17.1.

Works here with 15 pro. There were few bugs i encounter with iOS 17.1, some of them gets fixed after shutdown/restart.

I am still struggling restoring and waste my time (I want set up as new) or not. Especially if it could be worse without any reason any day any hour

No, I didn't restore.
I'm sure by now that it's a fault in the iOS 17.1 and it's background processes. I rebooted, powered the device off then on (2-3 times) and now it seems that it's ok.
It's back to the iOS 16.6.1 battery life days.

I restored mine because I was looking for a better battery performance. It wasn't a disaster but I want more. Today I saw that the next day after restore (I know I should give a bit more fir inducing etc) battery doesn't look bad but sometimes it loses 1% in 10 minutes sometimes 2% and another 2% just like that.
As you said. Sometimes it good sometimes it could be bad. No one knows. I performed hard reset an hour ago after my iPhone lost 4-5% just like that. It rebooted with 65% and now it is still 65%. Sometimes it needs few reboots power on/off or hard resets. I hope it will be the same with Apple Watch which is terrible for me after restore. But that's another case.
And of course I hope Apple will find a solution for their new softwares.

UPDATE #2: To be honest I don't see big improvement. Simple math gives 9h on one charge so it looks better but I am not sure if YouTube or listening consume more battery than usual.

First time I saw a weird issue with weather widget and whole weather app. It shows correct temperature etc but instead of a city there is only „my location”. On widget only above temperature only location arrow is visible without city name. I tried restart hard reset and nothing. Changing location permission helps.
