It seems that this build has broken my ability to connnect to CarPlay wirelessly and with a cable. It worked fine on 17.2 prior to the update albeit it had the occasional disconnect and reconnect issue. Now it won’t connect at all and I get an error message in my vehicle. I tried my other phone, running 17.2, and it works fine.
Perhaps “forget” your car in the CarPlay settings and re-add?

Wired Carplay has been working well for me with iOS 17.3 DB1.

I've been having media playback skipping issues ever since updating, every other song it will either skip or play with no sound until I restart the track.

As a start to the New Year, this has once again started appearing on the lockscreen of my 15PM and iPad Pro 11.
I don’t use Apple Music.
I don’t own or subscribe to any EC.

Is it still better than 17.1?
It depends on the device, but according to the data, on the iPhone XR, 12 and especially on the 13 it’s worse than 17.1, however the iPhone 11 improves.

But overall, 17.2 was a really solid and good update battery-wise, and it is a bit sad that the patches introduced on 17.2.1 have worsened the battery life in some devices.

Hopefully iOS 17.3 will bring back the battery life of iOS 17.2, as I’m starting to feel the curiosity of upgrading from iOS 16

To be honest this looks like a rolling a dice. You can’t prove that it is wrong or better. Everyone has different experiences different type of usage etc. Nevertheless iOS 17 is trash. iPhone 15 pro is my first 120hz iPhone (13 mini and 12 pro before) and maybe that’s the problem but I can’t see any difference between them in terms of battery. Sure a bit better than mini but sometimes my iPhone can lose 3-4% just like that. Without a reason.

When it comes to the battery, it is always a challenge. My 13PM on 15.x was the king. We will likely never see that anytime soon. For my current 15PM, every time I get it “adjusted” to where I want it and the corresponding battery life, we see another update and it’s back to square one. Unless it is a major consumptive shift.

I can confirm everything you said.

Totally random but weren’t we supposed to be able to receive safari web push notifications with iOS 16? I have never seen one ever! Even MR supports push on Mac? What’s up with that

This update added the Journal app on my phone. Had 17.2 before but the app didn't show up till this update.

My 13Pro (not max) has never been better and I am on 17.2.1, beats 16.x in terms of standby time and responsiveness. Not by far but its slightly better.
Can't remember how it was on 15 but don't remember it being better or worse than 17. I did have an an issue with battery drain on 15 or 16 but that was app related (default Apple app).

With the 13PM, for me, on iOS 15 I was getting 10-12 hours SOT. When I gifted it I was getting 7-9 hours for the same style of use. 15 was great, 16 was crap, 17 had its ups and downs but was better than 16. On 16 I started going back to sip charging and still do it off and on with 17.

Unfortunately I have the same experience. I had amazing battery life on iOS 15 with my 13 Pro Max, still good on iOS 16 but iOS 17 is the worst one. I'm getting half of what I used to get on iOS 15. 7h SOT is the max I'm able to get WITH low power mode activated, without I'm getting 6h and there's not a difference whether I'm on a GR or beta. It's just trash.

I've never had such a dramatic loss in battery life after updating to newer iOS.

Figured it out. Somehow my VPN was interfering with CarPlay. Turned it off and all worked fine.
