Sorry, my mistake. I thought you meant the wallpaper backgrounds. Yes it certainly goes on for longer than I thought in the weather app itself. It didn’t stop after 20 seconds before I closed it.
I did mean the wallpaper…
I think dk001 and I had a miscommunication.
I'll go back and clean things up in the thread.

I didn’t watch mine for more than 10 or 15 seconds. It played all through that. I am watching the starry sky one right now and it is still going after 30 seconds.
Sorry, I was referring to the wallpaper background.

I don’t want scream too early but haven’t seen boxed notifications with 17.3 b3 so far.
Is it finally fixed??

I re-updated using the IPSW and finally, I have seconds in the digital clock. :)

Yes Wi-Fi. I have no idea how the iPhone decides on what are Familiar Locations. Trying to turn off Protection asks for FaceID but then imposes the 1 Hour delay which I understood was not necessary in a familiar location. Being a test phone that was originally my main phone I have tried everything I can think of to make it recognise Home as a familiar place, including a complete wipe and QuickStart copy from my main phone. If Significant Locations is the same as Familiar locations (who knows?) then they are not syncing from iCloud like the description suggests. On one Occasion Home was showing as the last significant location and I immediately tried to turn off protection, same 1 hour delay. Not a big problem as in normal use I would not want to turn it off or add trusted numbers etc regularly, but we are supposed to be testing the facility as described.

This kind of stuff is exactly what makes me reluctant to enable Stolen Device Protection. I need to have full control on my device, and having to hope that Apple maybe recognizes my home as a familiar location, or maybe not, is completely unacceptable for me. I hope they will give us a way to control that somehow.

I put in a suggestion in FBA to add a user choice of locations

iTUNES STUCK AT PREPARING (2 of 4) WORKAROUND (Windows):

Here's what I do and it works 100% of the time:

1. Plug in iPhone, attempt to sync.
2. When it's stuck at 2 of 4 Preparing: Click the X (#1 in pic) in the info-box, then click the sync icon (#2 in the pic), which will turn into an X on hover.
3. It'll now stick on cancelling sync. Wait about 5 seconds, then unplug the iPhone.
4. Wait for iTunes to stop cancelling sync (about 10-15 seconds).
5. Plug in iPhone again.
6. Click Sync and it should now fly past 2 of 4 and go to 3 of 4 rapidly.
7. Sometimes I need to press sync a second time if it decides what to sync but then doesn't actually sync the items.

Let me know if this works for you too! Thanks

(If it works for the majority of people, maybe it should be stickied 🤷‍♂️)

I created an automation that I run when the sync gets stuck. (macOS)
pkill -9 "MDCrashReportTool"

Thanks! I know Mac is UNIX, I thought iTunes didn't exist on Mac anymore since they separated the app into 3 component parts. I've updated my post with "Windows" in the title for clarity.
Sorry I misunderstood! Didn't mean to come off as a know it all, my apologies 😊

Now beta 3 seems stable I installed it in my day-to-day iphone, and it recognises my home as a familiar place.
I can only assume it can take 2-3 months for the phone to decide where home or familiar is. My fully reset beta test iphone doesn’t have any clue where it is.

Questions of Linux/Unix aside, Killing that process (Task Manager) in Windows (but it's called "MDCrashReportTool (32 Bit)") Also pushes iTunes forward in Syncing! Thank you @slomtbr !!
The only difference is that my method will prevent it from recurring while that instance of iTunes is open (app open, pc not rebooted). With just killing it, I need to do it every time I sync. Still an awesome workaround, bravo.

Curious, do you have your home address defined in Contacts (your contact card)?
