Today I had the weirdest bug I have never seen yet.
I received some messages from my friend via iMessage and when I tapped the notifications and opened messages app, those text weren't there so I asked her if she deleted the messages but when I pressed send my message wasn't showing up.
I literally was sending texts and they weren't showing up, she was also sending me texts and I was able to see she was typing something and I could feel the haptic feedbacks but nothing was showing up.
I forced closed messages app but that didn't help so I had to restart the phone and it was fine after that but still... haven't seen that one yet.

AirPlaying a podcast to Apple TV, it seems the stop playing timer doesn’t work anymore and what ever is playing will just continue.

Yesterday I wasn’t able to get rid of a notification. Tapping on it did nothing. Restarting the phone fixed it but still… I’m restarting my phone several times a week. It’s funny because I haven’t had that many bugs on previous iOS 17 versions.

Everything is working as intended like always. 😂

Has anyone been having issues with Apple Music randomly stopping and/or skipping? I had it happen like twice this morning alone, along with that blurry artwork bug that will seemingly never be addressed.

Randomly today my camera went black on my 15 Pro and i had to restart to get it back working. Happened to my wife’s 15 Pro in the past week. Hopefully 17.4 fixes these bugs

My playback stutters sometimes, as if it's buffering if that makes sense. It does it on some tracks I've downloaded too so it can't be a network issue.

Yes, and it's extremely annoying. I don't have this issue on my iPad that is still running with 17.2, though :)

In Photos, any photo that shows "Home" as the location at the top of the photo changes to my town name if I tap the "i" to see info on it. This wasn't happening previously. This only happens on my iPhone and iPad. My Mac (14.3) doesn't do that, though some (but not all) changes synced over to the Mac.

There's no way to fix this as manually changing the location to my Home address (which it already was) puts the town name in. I can still search for "home" and find photos at home (at least for now), but this is annoying.

I fixed it! Again, currently, I don't use icloud, everything came from an Itunes backup that had over 80k photos total. How I fixed it.

I reset Location Services as some write-ups have said it may not be working properly. The Photos app and Camera are using your phone’s location via GPS to tag photos or photos. To reset Location Services. On your device, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Location & Privacy. This will reset your location settings to the factory default.

After that I did a hard reset and I could see the photos start updating in the search crazy fast and HOME is working again.

One other small annoyance, I came from an Iphone XS with super old firmware, and now on a 15 pro with 17.4.

In text messages, say someone texted you today, and you went in and deleted the individual text from them, (this would move the conversation back down your list to say yesterday or the last time they texted you, and that message wouldn't show up at the top of your screen still) Now with ios 17.4, if you delete say all the texts someone sent you today, their message thread still says up at the same spot from the original time stamp that was sent to you. It doesn't know to put that message down in your list further after you delete the single messages. I don't know when that changed? or if it's a bug in the new ios.

Or say you send a new text today to someone that that haven't texted in a few days ago... If you delete your own message that you just sent them after you send it, it still has their message thread at the TOP of your phone, it doesn't push it back to a few days later where it should be.

I don’t think location is broken because my photos have the correct GPS coordinates and when the Photos app does its indexing when plugged in it does tag the location as Home so it knows I’m at home. What’s broken is if you inspect a photo, it updates the location name with the town name like it does for any photo taken anywhere else.

Also since it does this on both my iPhone and iPad would indicate it’s a software bug and not an issue with the location data.

I would rather not needlessly reset location data as it takes the phone several weeks to learn your home location if you do that which would break things like stolen device protection (which works fine now).

When I reset, it only took a few hours for re-index. I think because I did an itunes backup, with icloud off, it makes it index muhc faster, since everything is locally on your phone.

Resetting location doesn’t just impact Photos. It affects Siri and all the location history. Basically the phone has to relearn where it thinks your home is, which it doesn’t get from your contact card but from where you spend the most time.
