I would put 100% credence on that.
Apple is going to provide side loading kicking and screaming only where it is absolutely forced to do so. As of now the UK does not require side loading, so Apple isn’t going to enable it. Once (if) the Digital Goods Act receives assent, then that will change.
The Podcasts app offers transcripts now, looks a lot like the lyrics view in Music but with search, and more:

So far, as far as I can tell, they’re providing transcripts for podcasts that were released this week. Podcast that released as recently as a Sunday still don’t have transcripts.

But there are currently no alternative marketplace up yet, as 17.4 beta 1 has just been released.
Im in EU, i tried to install an .ipa but it didnt work... hope they'll support this and not only some other stores.
Downloading this now. Could really care less about the emojis, but let’s see if this modem firmware update for the 15 Pro fixes its inability to be used with many car bluetooth systems.

This likely won’t ever officially work. They’ve come out and said they’ll only allow apps to be installed through third party app stores. They still need to have their control on everything in one way or another.
Haha I guess it might just be because when I'm listening to a podcast...it's either through my watch with my AirPods...or my phone, with it in my pocket. I don't usually listen to podcasts with my screen visible and on, so because of that, I've never really thought about the fact that it didn't have this feature! Definitely a good addition though!Call me a nerd if you like, but I have had that thought…many times!
I’d say the same except for last week when my wife and I both had a hard time with word which was difficult to understand. I don’t even use Apple Podcasts, but it might be time to give it another try.
Oh for sure. It would definitely be helpful for situations like that. I'm not on the beta, but I'm looking forward to this now! For those who are on it and have tried it out...how accurate is it? Because I'm thinking about the transcriptions on YouTube and how they aren't always entirely accurate.
17.4 has resolved a lot of the graphical glitches I was seeing on 17.3. This update seems very smooth so far.
In my case, if I’m listening to a tech podcast and someone gives a good tip for something, but then don’t include that in their show notes, I have no recourse but to go back and try to find it in the recording. This will give me the opportunity to search for it in the transcript, which should be a lot easier.
Update: 17.4 does not fix these issues. Worst iPhone / software combo I can remember, since probably the iPhone 3G on iOS 4. Absolute junk, and while Apple support has been great, their engineers have started coming back with some pretty condescending responses (buy a new car was pretty much what they said at one point). Ugh.

I have not heard of this issue to this point in the iOS 17 lifecycle. How many vehicles are actually affected by this?

Take a look at that thread. But basically a lot of cars are affected. My BMWs are effected (so any BMW with Bluetooth from 2011-2016), a lot of Audi/VW models, even hearing aids and Bluetooth speakers, etc.
Looks like there’s a memory overflow bug when the new A17 chip tries to communicate with Bluetooth chips made by Cambridge Silicon Radio using the BlueCore-6 chip design.
Fortunately, iOS 17 has been great with respect to Bluetooth in general and in my Audi when connected to my iPhone 15 Pro.
