At this rate, you’ll never update even to iOS 18.4.
(It’s not even that bad for daily use.)

The moral of the story is don’t listen to the complaining on this site. Although the complaints may be valid, they are frequently unique to the particular poster or at most affecting a small percentage of users. But they are amplified because of the “forum effect”: the few people with issues post; the great majority without the issue remain silent.

Well, i'm absolutely new to this site, but i'm using iPhones since 2016 starting with the 6s on - i think - it was iOS 9.
I was unpleasantly surprised to get an iPhone 6s from the company at that time, but i said to myself, ok, deal with it! After some time i was some kind of ok with it, after installing documents from readdle. So at least it was somehow usable in a non-apple environment. After i got used to, it was even some kind of very useful and i liked it!

In 2020 i got an iPhone SE 2020 and it was a nice improvement to my experience - i liked it a lot! :)

In October 2023 i decided to buy a brand new iPhone 12 Pro on my own (brand new from Apple care+ on the net) and migrated from the SE 2020 to it. So far so good, but i had to update the brand new iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 17.0.3 (i waited to at least this version, because versions before it would have bricked(!!) my brand new device!).

I was always not very excited about iOS releases, but they at least worked ok and i could do my normally work life with it ok. But with iOS 17 and beyond the experience is - at least - unsatisfying. I don't get it, why people are so satisfied with this version of the OS? As i said, i was never a friend of iOS, but after some adjusting, it was ok to work with. This version really sucks big time and i - for one - am deeply disappointed with it. I hope, they'll sometime manage to fix the big bunch of bugs in this OS, cause everyone i told, Apple is some kind of ok, tells me: "You are nuts! This is totally broken!".

I have to admit, they are right... :(

...running on 17.3.1.

People complaining about iOS 17.3.1, saying it’s the buggiest release of this major version. People complaining about iOS 17.4, saying it breaks even more things…

Honestly I think I’m gonna wait on iOS 16.6.1 for a good while… the sad part is that I’ll lose Progressive Web Apps on the dashboard if I don’t update to 17.3.1…

The only issue I've had was a small one in iMessage stickers. But that's been fixed.

I would really like not to upgrade from 16.6.1, because all versions 17 on which I was hundreds of times worse than 16.6.1.

17.4 beta 2 fixed the flickering animation of the sliders in the control room for me, a bug with notifications and now when I take out my phone on the street, my screen always immediately turns bright, before that it could be dim even at the highest brightness, they also fixed many more bugs that I do not know about, but wrote people on other forums. I really hope that they will continue to fix bugs in beta 3 and beta 4

Oh, and Push notifications now work as if MR Forums was an app, cool!

The only sad thing, now that I’m testing this PWA feature more in depth, is that it is barely used… for most websites and services, it just behaves as a bookmark that opens the website on Safari :(

I was hoping to use Discord as a PWA in order to have better privacy, as the mobile app leaks a lot of data, but sadly it doesn’t work.

Well… At least I have now a MR Forums app.

Shared AirTags broken on my iPhone.
I received TWO notifications that someone wanted to share a (previously / long-time shared) AirTag, but it’s missing.
It’s showing on my iPad just fine (iPadOS 17.3).

Then… I couldn’t make calls (call failed with 3 beeps).
Then… the feedback app crashed.

This is a mess.
iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Before I feedback the following issue I’m having, would appreciate if someone else could try it.

Using dictation (UK English) when I say new paragraph, it would normally insert a new paragraph. Now it just repeats the words.

As many of us have mentioned previously, auto punctuation, auto correct et cetera is absolutely screwed because Apple don’t know their arse from their elbow these days but would appreciate anyone confirming this is an issue for them on this release please. TIA.

Edit: reported

Been doing some maintenance this weekend .. well, just today.
Running speed tests and both my 15PM and iPad Pro 11 are on this beta. Very low WiFi speeds on both. Not sure what exactly change but far slower than B1. This is both on 5 and 6.

Tested S24U on both and it is consistently high. High on my PC’s too.

See what happens on Tuesday … 🤞🏼

Yes, spellcheck is horrid.
In this beta, did you update the moden?

I don't think it's like that!!!!
Unfortunately, this is all true. 17.4 b2 is the first version of iOS 17, which is better than all previous ones, but still the same junk as all official releases. However, it is too early to compare it with iOS 16. I hope it will be brought to mind by the time of the official release and will be what 17.0 should have been. If I had the opportunity to roll back to 16.7.2 now, I would be one of the first to roll back

Well, it's your particular decision, for me the versions are being more appropriate and reliable. But we always talk subjectively.👍🏻

I honestly don’t know what all the fuss is about. 17.3 purred like a kitten and 17.4 was been just as super smooth.

Not seeing 90% of all this chatter on my 14Pro how I use my phone.

For many, including myself, it is the stability. I like the changes, mostly, that have come with 17.x, I just wish it has the stability we saw with the last couple of 16.x releases.

For me it is being a stable beta, everything works and the information flows very well, it is more I have noticed battery saving, without modifying parameters it lasts a little longer. My iPhone 14 Pro 128 Gb device.

Apple Music lock ups are constant on this release on my iP15PM. Reported.
Seeing as it does the new welcome screen for App Store, Music, etc - presume the EU compliance work required a not insignificant change, which hasn’t been fully baked and QA’ed…

I’m having issues in the USA, which doesn’t require any regulatory changes, but is suffering from bad code.

I resubscribed to Amazon Music for now. And am using Music on my iPad and backup phone, both on 17.3.

Then again News+ full issues were broken, and the gaslighting tech support at Apple made me feel like it was my fault … pointing fingers at multiple news sources (that should have been a clue that it’s Apple’s fault…)

Guess I got spoiled with my 13PM and iOS15 and battery life.
I am using two phones and testing a third. The 15PM on this beta has the poorest battery life.

These days I find the iPhone to be, meh. Even the betas have become ho-hum. They aren’t betas but more like extended RCs.
