I read that on X and Reddit. Still doesn’t really explain how and where they came from for those who were affected and some or all the “restored” pics were prior to Files, before a “reset as new”, or other devices that were not migrated to the current.

Good analysis though.

Here’s the Reddit one: https://www.reddit.com/r/ios/s/5uEzLtE0XE

Anyone else having worse battery life on this version? My 15PM is draining faster than it was on 17.5

Aren’t they supposed to be securely erasing files to begin with when privacy and security had been their biggest selling points in recent years?

Yes, your files are securely erased if you completely erase your iPhone and set it up as new.

A regular file deletion (for example when you delete a picture or a document and then keep using your phone) isn't a secure erase. That's why orphaned files can sometimes show up again. If you need a secure erase of a file *without* completely erasing the phone, you don't have many choices and you likely need special software (or even devices) for that. It's not a typical use case nor a typical model for an end user.

Did you know that this setting enabled is changing your DNS server in safari into Cloudflare when using the private mode?

Settings - Safari - Advanced - Extended tracking and identification protection

If you enable it for both modes (normal & private) your DNS server stays the same in normal, but changes it into Cloudflare in private mode.

Are you sure about that? How did you verify it?

Mine says Cloudflare in both and I have NextDNS and private relay enabled.

15ProMax > Messages

Went to a friends get together last night - daughter graduated high school.
They airdropped me a bunch of photos - cool.
This morning I tried to Message them to a bunch of others, iOS and Android, and ran into an issue: Messages was telling me I had to enable iMessage to send. See below.

Hard reboot didn’t fix it. Right now if I try to Message an HEIC pic, I get this error. iMessage is on - checked to make sure. If I take an on device HEIF it send fine. Just ones that have been air dropped to me.

UPDATE: I uploaded into my Proton Drive, downloaded onto my S24Ultra, and sent them from there.

I had this happen yesterday on my 15 Pro after rebooting. I attempted to send a couple messages that went green. Toggling iMessage off and on fixed it.

Well I was getting the charging on hold error. Apple wiped my phone and reinstalled 14.5. Error persisted. The day Apple puts a replacement in the mail, 17.5.1 came out. Error gone.

Have Find My turned off on my 15PM (all places), have unlocked/paired all items and it still shows up under battery with a percentage and no minutes. Been that way for the last couple of betas also.

PITA. At least till I figure it out. :(

I repaired my AWU to it.

The press reported that Apple were putting in a fix for silent alarms suspected to be related to Attention Aware. Maybe they did.
