Public beta 2 completely broke FaceID for me. It randomly become spotty during PB1, but now I have 0% success.

Is there a fix or do I just have to deal with it? Should I reset FaceID and do a new scan?

Well it might be security related, which is why I always install these re-releases.
They should document it instead of being sneaky about it, and refusing to say what security changes they've made.

Or they discovered something important
Then it should be in the release notes or otherwise documented.

Perhaps they fine tuned their delivery apparatus this year allowing them to do these simultaneous deliveries more easily. That may be what all the modifications to the software update page were all about.
I don't see why that means they have to re-release the same betas again.

Yes I know, I'm living on the edge.

From the release Notes:
Known Issues: MP3 files with malformed ID3 tags will fail to play
The release notes also mention the IMAP email issue that was fixed a couple of betas ago, so it seems they don't update them well.

For those who create feedbacks for bugs they find, keep logging them even if it appears the bug is in the release notes. In this particular case, especially if MP3s with correct tags don't work.

Out on a limb, but maybe they don’t want to document it. Leave the bad guys guessing.

And in a sense, they’re not the same betas. Different build.

Whatever the reason, Apple likely spent a lot of money (CDN resources) redeploying it. So I don’t think they’re doing it idly.

I don’t know if this is new in this beta but Markup now lets you use any system font and color for text boxes. Used to be you were limited to Georgia, Chalkduster and Helvetica (I think)

No Face ID problem on my iPhone 12 mini. Have you tried a hard restart and cleaning your camera area first? If this does not help, then do try to rescan your face again?

I wouldn't change anything or try to "fix" this just yet.. I'm having no issues on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but my iPad Pro 11in is. Face ID doesn't work in landscape or portrait, having to enter passcode each time to unlock. Maybe try a reboot? I might install the latest beta over itself on my iPad to test..

In the time it took to post this, you could’ve done a new Face ID scan and worked out for yourself whether it’s going to fix it. So yes do a new Face ID scan

I was using my Airpods Max with noise cancellation on, there was definitely no tone. lol. And there's nowhere in settings that I can find where you can record your own message for Live Voicemail, can you share a screenshot of where to go?
Just go under Phone (not in settings, but the app) > Voicemail > Greeting and record one. It doesn't say it's for Live VM specifically, but it works for Live VM if enabled.

No, waste of time. Still not working on my iPad Pro. I'm able to create a new Face ID and an Alternate Face ID, but then Face ID doesn't work to unlock. Filed Feedback...

Odd Widget issue. All my existing are fine and I can add a single new, but have no option to add more than one to create a stack. I can edit an existing stack, but can't create new. Reported.

Not that it helps you one bit, sorry, but no problems with Face ID on my iPhone 14 pro Max nor iPad Pro 2021. Hopefully the next beta will help.

My iPhone 14 Pro Max is working GREAT on this latest beta, too. I guess I'm just used to dealing with beta issues.. If I'm still having these issues in September with the official release, that's a different story ;)

How is it possible that the latest Beta has even worse battery life than the previous build? I took the phone off the charger 2.5 hours ago, used it for maybe 10 minutes but was driving for 1.5 hours, and I am already at 83%

And "2 years of learning"...huh? It scans and stores. If you delete and do it again, it scans and stores again. Nothing about the time in between means anything. Just saying.
Very true.

It potentially requires every secure app (such as banking apps) to be re-authenticated though.

True, but that (to me) is minor. I signed out of the Cloud trying to resolve an issue and had to go through the same thing (maybe it was resetting Network Settings...I don't remember). Small pita at most.

And, if Face ID isn't working, that won't work for your apps anyway. ;)

It clearly says it adapts to you over time. You do a new scan, it starts from scratch.

Something over running maybe. hard restart will stop that.

No change from the battery for me on iPhone 14 Pro, updated using IPSW file.

You win. You def don't want to loose that nano-second of better response over time. Just stick with it being busted.

You are subject to the fallacy of “constantly improving betas”.

We’ve seen time and again that the betas do not “improve” linearly as we move through beta season. Things can and do get “worse” as Apple tweaks settings here and there. Battery life is frequently one of the most reported complaints.

Around the end of August, things start to get better, particularly as they lock things down to install the software, as it exists then, on the new iPhones coming off the assembly line.

With this latest update I am finding a couple of things broken ... on the apps side.
Some features do not seem to work anymore. Or work worse.

Keep in mind these did work correctly.

Kindle - if I am reading a book on two devices, when I open it on the iPad I do not get the prompt if I want to move to the furthest read page.
Adobe Acrobat - if working with an iCloud pdf, if I open the pdf on another device, update and save it, AA has to be freshly launched to pull up the latest version. From the App Manager it doesn't refresh.
Various video players (like YouTube) - if you use a Magic Keyboard, you have to manually trigger a function on screen before many of the keyboard commands will work. ex: scan forward or back This issue has improved or degraded with each beta.

Will add to this as I run across them.
Maybe.
