iOS 17 Beta 8 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Just a heads up…

iOS 17 beta 8 still does NOT fix:

1) The glitched Notification Center (from iOS 16)
2) The annoying Home Control platter flicker in Control Center (from iOS 16)
3) The inability to move a large widget to the bottom portion of a Home Screen page (from iOS 17)

Turn off “search” on Home Screen and let me know…

Wow! Seems that disabling it fixed the stuttering! Will look into it these days but seems fixed.

That darn 'significant locations' has enabled itself again. Along with 'iPhone Analytics and 'Routing and traffic'.

Be careful out there people!

Not only did it turn it back on, Search couldn't find it.
Knowing where it was helped.

Added note - I had several System Services turned off but now they are all turned back on.

Some fixes but not all

If I change the status of a Message on one device, the other devices now are auto updated with the same status.
But... Messages with entry in Contacts are still showing name on iPhone and number on iPad.

Update: this is for status change only. Deleting on one does not update any other devices.

At least it is an improvement.

Folks that are updating from Beta 7. How was battery in Beta 7?

I had good battery life on beta 7 on my 14PM, usually an hour or more of screen active time for each 10% drop in remaining charge. I know other folks who had a worse experience, though.

1. Curious what you mean by "glitched" personally I haven't noticed any weird. Anything i need to look out for?

2. Do you mean the home icon?

3. Do you mean If there's a full page of apps, a widget won't fit on last row?

IPhone seems to be working well (it’d early), but I did notice on my 2021-22 iPad Pro the front status indicators aren’t working - camera and voice memo.

EDIT - they are working. They are in a different spot than my iPhone 14 Pro.

On this beta I got a bit further with the Apple TV Siri Remote “Find” feature.
A “Find” button is present and it opens the locator screen. However, the remote is not found, even when it lays right next to my phone.

Ah. Thank you. I now realize why this hasn’t been a problem for me. I don’t have beta on a 14 Pro. I have it on 13 Pro [Notch-ville]. That sucks. Perhaps it’s more of an app itself issue, then main OS. Once iOS 17 goes official and apps start getting updated.

It is presented since iOS 16, I don’t think it is an app issue as the stock apps has that glitch too.

Even after the user has disabled it, after installing various beta's, it re enables itself. It's done it again with this beta.

iPhone 11, OTA upgrade, and none of my location services have been changed. Most of them were off and are still off, including "significant locations".

Bluetooth turns itself on of course, as always (iOS and MacOS upgrades).

Again? That was so annoying back in Beta 3 (?). Just installed B8, mine has stayed disabled thankfully (14PM).

How strange. I have the 14pm and had to disable it after installing B7. I installed B8 this evening and it re enabled itself again! No biggie, but annoying nonetheless.

Release day 14 Pro from 100% to 96% in just 8 Betas lol. I also have the bug where ALL Location Services are enabled each Time we get an Update

I have a 14 pro max and have never seen the squared notifications bug, thankfully.

When I do pull down the notifications center, however, the no older notifications text is really glitchy still like iOS 16. I believe this is the only bug that I’ve personally witnessed from iOS 16. I wonder why it still hasn’t been fixed 🤔

Aside from that, it’s been pretty smooth sailing on my end!
