Did what i probably should have done in the first place, which is restart all my Home hubs.

After doing that when I restarted the phone it didn’t think I left home. That was the first time that worked since upgrading to iOS 17.

The same thing started happening with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. I ended up unplugging all the home hubs and plugged them back in as simply restarting them didn’t help.

I’m not looking forward to this being a common occurrence as things turn off when I leave Home.

No, it’s all or nothing. You can only turn the feature off entirely, not for a specific phone.

So this new functionality to bump two iPhone onto another to share contacts is great and all but I am using two iPhone and naturally I always place them on top of each other to carry them but every time, I get a request on one of the iPhones now (assuming it thinks I want to share data between those two). I suppose there isn’t a setting to ignore a specific phone?
I see this as a great suggestion example. It would definitely annoy me.

I was catching up on reading this thread recently on my iPad, when iMessage from my wife popped up. So I enabled the split screen mode, bring the iMessage to the other part of screen to my Safari and the messages part wasn’t scaled properly, so I couldn’t see what were my replies to her. The scaling didn’t fixed itself even after opening iMessage app to full screen

I don’t think that’s related to optimize battery. The photos app for some reason just decides to stop syncing sometimes. I’ve seen a variety of reasons given: battery too low, phone too hot, optimizing system performance (what does that even mean and why is it always doing this?), etc. It’s like photos doesn’t want to sync anymore in iOS 17
IIRC, "optimizing system performance" is just a flag that iOS & macOS has redirected the CPU power that would have gone to iCloud Syncing to more critical tasks. I believe it's the same underlying engine as "game mode" but allowing those extra processing cycles to go towards editing photos or similar.

I’m seeing 2 issues on my newly setup iPhone 15 Pro Max related to indexing and searching.

1. I can’t search for messages older than about 16 months. They just won’t show up even though I can see them in messages. Messages doesn’t say it’s indexing so it seems to think it finished. I tried toggling iCloud message off and on (that just doubled the storage used by Messages) and toggling the Messages Siri and search settings off. Nothing made a difference. Also the older messages, photos and videos don’t seem to get removed to free up space. For some reason only reset videos and photos are.

2. In photos, even though indexing is also “complete” the search page only shows the people and pets category. I can search for other stuff, but it doesn’t show the normal things on that page that my iPad does like categories, places, groups, etc.

Of the 2, the message one is more annoying as if I want to find an old message I need to use my Mac or iPad.

Edit:

#2 resolved itself. #1 is still a problem.

Router updated its firmware so it’s seems likes it’s iOS?

Got a device not on betas to test?

At home I turn off private WiFi Address, saves hassle with routers.

Silly thing, but have you restarted your router recently? I always forget this one because they just sit there so out the way and as along as that blue lights on you take it for granted things are working smoothly.
Tried everything of that. They didn’t work. It looks like it’s fixed since 17.0.1, but I’m not sure yet.

Any of y’all rocking a 15 Pro and having an issue where your contacts just display their phone number in messages? All of a sudden it’ll fix itself too.

I’ve also had an issue where my iPad received an iMessage but my phone didn’t?

VIP in mail app is completely broken for me. I tried adding a contact and it flagged thousands of random emails as VIP, I removed the contact and now no VIP messages show up.
Mine still is completely broken. iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.0.3. Any update on a fix?
