Apple to Address iPhone 15 Pro Overheating Issue With iOS 17 Update

Per Apple
We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity. We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We're working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.

The bug should be fixed with iOS 17.1, which is currently in beta and is expected to be released in late October. It's possible that Apple might also make a bug fix available sooner with a smaller software update, such as iOS 17.0.3.

Apple had plenty of time to issue another update. 1+ week is shameful with this many unacknowledged issues on a brand new flagship device. I no longer have anytime to update. I gave them more than enough opportunity. As of now I am sticking with 14 Pro Max on iOS 16 as I require a dependable device. I would personally not be shocked if a great number of people decided to return their iPhone 15s and 15 Pros within the 14 day window
A week to fix numerous elusive bugs is not tons of time. They need understand what's causing the issue, find a way to fix it and then test implementation of a fix and make sure that fix actually fixes it and doesn't cause other unforeseen issues.

For example, per Gurman, the overheating issue appears to be caused by several apps (Instagram, Uber and Asphalt 9) not the Titanium case or USB-C as many have hypothesized.

Aaron Zollo is claiming they are having one this week but there is no sign of it in the Algorhythyms

He’s probably correct. Although the overheating culprits seem to be individual apps, like Instagram (shocker) and Uber, it also seems to be due to some interaction of those apps with iOS. So my guess is they are still working on it, hence the reason it’s not showing up in server logs (not algorithms) yet.

His track record isn’t great. Just guessing like everyone else.

Sounds like an update has been sent to and approved by French regulators to solve the iPhone 12 radiation issue so I can see that fix (alongside other bug fixes) coming in a 17.0.3 release this week and overheating issues to come in maybe a 17.0.4 next week.

It'll depend on when Apple was able to identify the issue causing the overheating and how long it takes to implement changes.
