Depends. Since all iPhone models use the same SoC, the A17 could bs part of the delay. I don’t mind if the Pro‘s get a later release date (they have done it before).
They do not share the same SoC.
Apple started that type of differentiation between Pro and regular iPhones last year and will continue to do so (as it increases the margin for the regular series).

Besides: I don’t think they will delay iOS 17 because of delayed iPhones. The 12 series was delayed until October (presentation was on October 23rd 2020). However the corresponding iOS 14 came out in September as usual (on September 16th 2020).

Oh how I wish people in this thread could grasp this concept.

So, so, so tired of the stupid “nothing today” posts when it’s only five or ten minutes past the top of the hour. It’s ridiculous.

To be fair, Apple did used to be more punctual on the releases at the top of the hour. But it has been awhile since that was the rule so I do agree with you.

I’ve seen it two minutes past the hour even

We used to see it promptly at 10am Pacific. But now we don’t. They probably did this to play with our minds.

Or whoever pushes the button now has a one hour meeting at 9 and can’t get to Beta HQ by 10am sharp to push it.

Or, most likely, they are seeding the CDN servers beginning at 10 and only when that’s done does the release actually take place.

My trusty pet rock Sctanley is holding firm that it'll be tomorrow; again he's almost always wrong, but I'm feeling Wednesday as well this time around.

OK. Here's now the definitive database on release dates for betas and public releases:

This is better than Thinkybits, I think.

EDIT: Well perhaps not entirely.

The last part. I remember times it occurred slightly before 10am PST. Currently larger uploaded packages such as MacOS seeds show up closer to 20 mins after 10, and you can start a download too soon and have it fail CRC when installing. with iOS seeds I haven’t encountered that failure as often. But as all here have discovered the time of first availability varies by several minutes each beta seeding. It could be scheduled scripts by now, that are impacted by overall server farm activity. Perhaps all those services Apple provides running concurrently interferes with seeding comparably. Remember when people around the world got the seeds before it’s even seen locally to Cupertino? However this deployment goes now, it’s not like the old days. :)

I’m guessing beta 4 today. Still happy with iOS 16.6 after downgrading from iOS 17 due to terrible battery on the 14 Pro. Hope beta 4 feels more solid so I can jump back in.
Strange, I have excellent battery life on iOS 17 b3 on my 14 Pro.

Same here! Noticeably better, in fact.. What I have noticed is how much less I seem to have to charge up these last couple weeks.

Which probably means that there are some not iOS17 optimised apps draining the battery way faster for some users than for the rest of us.
