iOS 18.1 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Mine has said “support for processing Apple intelligence models on device is downloading” for the past hour and a half now 😂😭

Apple has more advanced geolocation functionality for the EU specifically which enables sideloading. They may be using the same tech to restrict AI functionality. Changing region doesn't get around it.

Just need to change language, region and voice to US, then option is there to join waitlist. 11 minutes it took for me to be approved.

But you are in the UK. I’m going to guess people on the continent are not able to do this.
 
I’m curious about the Apple Intelligence features are available. I’m going to explore them now.

Same here. Just got notified that it turned on about 5 minutes ago though. Just need to wait a little longer. I also rebooted my device, not sure if that helped or not.
 
Anybody got it working in Germany?
If yes would be nice to tell us, I don’t want to hop on 18.1 beta before I know if region and language change to US is enough.

yeah - fancy animations and an updated response UI - im. i’m not convinced they’ve rolled out intelligence features to it yet , as i’m getting basically the same responses as my ios 17.5 device

I’m going to assume that ChatGPT will be coming in iOS 18.2 or 18.3, that’s when Siri will start to improve, it will be probably significantly better next Spring when iOS 18.4 launches
 
UK here. Joined waitlist, been over an hour now and still nothing. Phone is hot though (15 PM)

It's worth keeping in mind that, as far as we know, the entire reason there's an 18.1/15.1 beta right now in the first place is because Apple Intelligence is running far enough behind schedule that it needed to be broken off into its own release branch to avoid delaying the main iOS/iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 releases — so it shouldn't be surprising that it's not exactly feature-complete yet.
