Uh? So why if 18.1 is the track Apple is going because clearly 18.0 doesn’t have AI and never will, they are just fully beta testing 18.1 on all devices if that’s what they will all get pretty quickly after the release of iOS 18.This doesnt make any sense.
The main point to release an 18.1 beta this early is to test the AI features. Other than that, thats probably the same 18.0 build that is being tested right now on the beta cycle.
So why would they allow anyone that don’t have access to a newer device to test the 18.1 leaving the 18.0 Beta, which is the priority, empty?
After the 18.0 oficial release obviously they’ll allow all devices to test the 18.1
Are you referring to the 18.1 beta install itself, or the AI setting after updating to 18.1?
There's no waitlist to install the beta, but once you upgrade and try to enable AI, that puts you on the list (which is apparently very short right now).
The first time I did it, it took me to the Siri settings page. Now it just flashes.Has anyone managed to get Type to Siri to work as the bar flashes but doesn’t do anything
Ignore me if your having issues with Type to Siri just reboot your device it fixed it for me.
Read back through this thread. People have already named several things that were fixed with 18.1.You misunderstood what the 18.1 Beta is for. It‘s not for you to toy with or provide feedback in terms of overall iOS bugs, it‘s exclusively there for AI testing and that requires the latest hardware.
There probably is nothing in there that is different from iOS 18.0 that isn‘t tied to AI somehow.
I haven't faked anything, it just workedYou have to fake GPS location to US by some third-party apps first![]()
Scratch that, works now. On the waitlist. Can't join the wait list, despite the option showing. Just pops up, then closes again.
Were you around when iOS 13.0 and 13.1 were simultaneously being tested?I was around. Bit different than this update.
Your phone’s broken. Siri reads it out loud too on mine.No it doesn’t, it just display the result.
Apparently. I have set my language and region to US, also, set my AppleStore to the US applied and set my vpn to NYC US. Still can’t get in :/In Mexico, it did allow me. They may have more scrutiny with European users.
For me it took about 3 minutes from joining the waitlist to getting the notification that I was “accepted”Downloading now. Wonder how long the waitlist is now!
Now the question is how accurate are the summaries?Features I’ve discovered so far.
Reader Summary in Safari - You can now Summarize an article using the Reader in Safari
Mail Summary - You can now Summarise an Email in Mail
Mail Smart Reply - Gives suggestions and writes an email reply with one tap
Obviously Type to Siri and the new Siri UI
and the new writing tools - so far I’ve only used it in Notes.
Done a restart?Apparently. I have set my language and region to US, also, set my AppleStore to the US applied and set my vpn to NYC US. Still can’t get in :/
I rebooted my phone and it fixed itself. How to you enable the keyboard? The brief clip mentioned the bar at the bottom, but I double click, see the Siri bar and then it goes away….
18.1, alongside macOS 15.1 and all the other .1s, likely won’t launch until mid to late October.Uh? So why if 18.1 is the track Apple is going because clearly 18.0 doesn’t have AI and never will, they are just fully beta testing 18.1 on all devices if that’s what they will all get pretty quickly after the release of iOS 18.
These are all guessing for sure.
I only did language and region, nothing to Apple Store and haven't enabled my VPN at all.Apparently. I have set my language and region to US, also, set my AppleStore to the US applied and set my vpn to NYC US. Still can’t get in :/
