Likely? We have never seen something this fragmented from Apple before, so there is no clear picture if anything else will get 18.1. Apple could have released the beta of 18.1 to everyone and removed the AI toggle from the phones that aren’t 15 pros, but they didn’t. Seems they are making a line in the sand for the .1 update.

I have been using Apple products since the early days, this may not be the biggest, but it’s the biggest we have seen in a long time.
This doesnt make any sense.
The main point to release an 18.1 beta this early is to test the AI features. Other than that, thats probably the same 18.0 build that is being tested right now on the beta cycle.
So why would they allow anyone that don’t have access to a newer device to test the 18.1 leaving the 18.0 Beta, which is the priority, empty?
After the 18.0 oficial release obviously they’ll allow all devices to test the 18.1

Screenshots look weird with Siri now. IMG_9971.pngIMG_9973.png

You misunderstood what the 18.1 Beta is for. It‘s not for you to toy with or provide feedback in terms of overall iOS bugs, it‘s exclusively there for AI testing and that requires the latest hardware.

There probably is nothing in there that is different from iOS 18.0 that isn‘t tied to AI somehow.

So I just got a iPhone 15 Pro Max that is on 17.5.1. Had previously used the Dev Beta on my now old iPhone 14 Pro Max.. If I want to join the 18.1 Dev beta How do I do that? It doesn't appear to be an option. Or do I have to go to 18.0 Dev Beta first and then an option for 18.1 Dev Beta will show?
If you enable the iOS 18 Developer Beta channel and refresh, do you see only the iOS 18 Beta 4 update or do you also see the iOS 18.1 Beta at the bottom of the screen under "ALSO AVAILABLE"?

There we go! Was expecting it to show as a full other branch in there not a separate option once you select the dev branch!

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions based on a beta build that has been available for less than an hour and for which release notes aren't even posted yet; and while Apple doesn't release device-specific betas often, this almost certainly isn't the first time they've done so, nor is it likely to be the last.

Let's see what the next few weeks bring, before leaping to unwarranted conclusions.
Have they ever released a beta . Update to specific phones before and not to others? I can’t remember it. I don’t think I am making any large assumptions yet. They have in the past left off features that other phones aren’t capable of but given the same update.

You can change the region in Settings - General to the United States. It doesn't change your app store or Apple ID region, but will grant you access to the Apple Intelligence Beta
Here from Spain It isn’t working changing language and región. Anybody from europe have made it work to Join the whaitlist?

Clearly someone who wasn’t around for the Verizon iPhone, which ran a completely different version number of iOS (4.2.5 through 4.2.10) than the AT&T iPhones did (4.3 through 4.3.5).
Took Apple almost 10 months to get the iPhone’s back in sync across carriers with iOS 5.0
I was around. Bit different than this update.

Any changes to the Photos app? This is my primary complaint with iOS 18 but my testing phone can't download 18.1 beta to try it out.
