Is the Siri requests language seperate from the language for the phone itself? Or does the entire device need to be set toe English (US)?

I’m curious to know if the AI Siri smart replies in Messages work just as the ones in Google Messages that show little bubbles with a suggested reply that you then tap to send. I’d love for it to be the same.

Has anyone managed to get Type to Siri to work as the bar flashes but doesn’t do anything

Ignore me if your having issues with Type to Siri just reboot your device it fixed it for me.

Footnote #1 on the AI preview page states that both Siri and device language need to be set to U.S. English.

Are you referring to the 18.1 beta install itself, or the AI setting after updating to 18.1?

There's no waitlist to install the beta, but once you upgrade and try to enable AI, that puts you on the list (which is apparently very short right now).

not useful information. But Apple Intelligence takes up 2.86 GB on my 15 Pro Max

What a fragmented f’ing disaster. So will anything under the 15 pros never get 18.1? What gets released in September on full release. From now on AI capable phone will be the on different . Update from non AI phones? I have never seen such a disaster from Apple. So many questions with no real answers from Apple.

The beta is limited to 15 Pros and M1+ iPads because they need to start testing the Apple Intelligence features now to get them ready for October.

Other devices will also get 18.1, it‘s just that the focus lies on getting 18.0 into a polished state first (18.1 is probably less stable or as stable as 18.0 + the wip AI features).

It‘s actually smart that they get feedback / telemetry this early.
