I wonder if this has any progress from 18b4 or is just a seed with AI portions added… maybe some RCS improvements, anyone?

What a fragmented f’ing disaster. So will anything under the 15 pros never get 18.1? What gets released in September on full release. From now on AI capable phone will be the on different . Update from non AI phones? I have never seen such a disaster from Apple. So many questions with no real answers from Apple.
You don't have to switch to the 18.1 betas if you're not testing or developing against AI features — and in all likelihood, other devices will get 18.1 betas at some point later in the development cycle.

Meanwhile, if this is the worst Apple-related disaster you've ever seen, you obviously haven't been using their platforms for very long. 😂

Is the Siri requests language seperate from the language for the phone itself? Or does the entire device need to be set toe English (US)?
You can change the region in Settings - General to the United States. It doesn't change your app store or Apple ID region, but will grant you access to the Apple Intelligence Beta

Likely? We have never seen something this fragmented from Apple before, so there is no clear picture if anything else will get 18.1. Apple could have released the beta of 18.1 to everyone and removed the AI toggle from the phones that aren’t 15 pros, but they didn’t. Seems they are making a line in the sand for the .1 update.

I have been using Apple products since the early days, this may not be the biggest, but it’s the biggest we have seen in a long time.

Is there a way to tell how big AI on supported devices is and that it won't be installed if you device (and or region) does not support AI.

Siri is now capable of doing something it used to be able to do: tell you the non-current age of someone…

Example: “how old was Tom Hanks in 1985?”

Siri: “he was 26 years old.”
Did that on 17.6 RC as well.

Just tried this on both of the old Siri and the new Siri, and got the exact same answer.
So I’m not sure what you mean that it couldn’t do it before

To be honest, he never said it wasn't able to do. He said something it used to be able to do. I think it was a joke.

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions based on a beta build that has been available for less than an hour and for which release notes aren't even posted yet; and while Apple doesn't release device-specific betas often, this almost certainly isn't the first time they've done so, nor is it likely to be the last.

Let's see what the next few weeks bring, before leaping to unwarranted conclusions.

Features I’ve discovered so far.

Reader Summary in Safari - You can now Summarize an article using the Reader in Safari
Mail Summary - You can now Summarise an Email in Mail
Mail Smart Reply - Gives suggestions and writes an email reply with one tap
Obviously Type to Siri and the new Siri UI
and the new writing tools - so far I’ve only used it in Notes.

Interesting. It used to do it and then it couldn’t for the last few years. I haven’t tried in several months, so I guess it got added back.

Clearly someone who wasn’t around for the Verizon iPhone, which ran a completely different version number of iOS (4.2.5 through 4.2.10) than the AT&T iPhones did (4.3 through 4.3.5).
Took Apple almost 10 months to get the iPhone’s back in sync across carriers with iOS 5.0

So I just got a iPhone 15 Pro Max that is on 17.5.1. Had previously used the Dev Beta on my now old iPhone 14 Pro Max.. If I want to join the 18.1 Dev beta do I have to put this phone on 18 Dev Beta first? 18.1 Dev Beta doesn't appear to be an option currently while sitting on iOS 17.5.1
