Ran into an issue that started today - videos.

I have taken a couple of videos shot freehand with the Camera app. Both around 250MB each.
When I attempt to AD them from my 15PM to my iPad Pro 11, the AD fails every time.
Add to that, the fail notification shows on the 15PM then shows on the iPad a few minutes later.

UPDATE: Grammar correction. Siri sucks.

I had the new emoji generator pop up on the keyboard but when I tried to generate anything it didn’t work.

I tried simple things like “Red butterfly” and it returned nothing lol

Can’t get it to give me the option to create an emoji again after I went off it though

Where were you in the system that that popped up? Messages?

This tells me that this is already in the beta and that all it needs is a switch turned on in Cupertino.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the summaries included in my email notifications. This feature has significantly reduced my workload, as I no longer feel compelled to address each notification immediately.

While I have encountered a few minor glitches on occasion, none have been particularly noteworthy.

I think a lot of out of on switches which is why it’s taking up 2.5 GB of data.

I was replying to my friends dm on twitter I was searching an emoji.

Then saw text at top of keyboard said something “Generate an emoji” or something similar I should’ve screenshotted it.

I can’t remember exactly what I said but I’ve not seen it since even though I’ve tried.

Like you said looks like stuff needs to be just switched on.

Sad it didn’t work lol, I tried to generate multiple things and no results.

I guess maybe soon.

I think we will see this in the coming few weeks.

When do we suspect we’ll see the new email layout?

You mean the Gmail-like sorting and categorization? My understanding is that the plan (as Apple laid it out earlier this summer) is for that to show up in 18.2 in December (and coming to a beta near you in October at some point).

Well that sucks.

Is it still possible to install this since it is not showing on the developer portal anymore? If I find the IPSW is apple still signing it?

I was on it and switched to beta 7 but miss the AI stuff!

It is unsigned so you cannot restore it in iTunes/Finder. However if you're on 18db7 you may still see it OTA by switching to the 18.1 beta track. If not, you'll have to wait for next week.

Might be the app, might be the OS.
15 ProMax / Hiya

Some calls that care blocked by Hiya (spam/fraud/etc…) are showing up in Notifications and in Recents with a (null) Blocked tag. This just started today. All three calls that showed this were flagged as Fraud in Hiya.

Will dig a bit more …

I don’t know if this was ever mentioned but with 15 Pro Max and AI Siri displays some cool info on CarPlay display like weather info (current temp, sunset, moon phases, and sports).
Just curious. How does this work? I have AI but have never seen the weather or scores etc

You have to ask for them. Ask Siri, for example, what the weather will be today and you’ll get a little card just like shown in the post above. Same for sunset times and sports scores.

One of the things I look for each year with a new release, besides testing for functionality (aka bugs), do the new features or fixes change my use or workflow with these devices. So far for iOS18.x, the answer for myself is ”No”. Perhaps as Apple rolls out AppInt it may change.

I think 18.0 is a nice little update. But the meat and potatoes will be in the Siri updates in early 2025. That has the potential to drastically change not only workflows but how you use your iPhone overall. If their vision pans out, apps will become a lot less important than the individual intents within apps. Think of it like moving from the molecular level to the atomic level.

But right now all that is is potential. Apple has more or less bet the farm on this approach. Hopefully they will win that bet.
