I've submitted feedback for this issue. Works flawlessly with mail that's pushed but anything that is set to fetch does't load unless you manually check & pull down.
I'm on iOS 18 beta 6, and my IMAP account (set to "fetch" every 15 minutes) is working fine.

Hopefully that means your next 18.1 beta will fix it. (Or the next 18 beta will break mine!)

Are the AI sign ups per Apple account or per device? I am thinking about upgrading my iPad now so I can avoid waiting lists later. But I am not ready to upgrade my phone to this version yet.

Per account.
After I signed up and was approved on my 15 ProMax, when I updated my iPad Pro (same account) it was automatically approved.

I am really curious to hear other people’s experience with this. I was ready to pull the trigger but this would be enough for me to hold off if it’s an across the board issue.

I am not having this issue on either my phone or my iPad.

Sign ups are by acccount. But there is a toggle to turn on Apple Intelligence or not. Just toggle it off on the phone. Or just don’t put your phone on 18.1.

Thanks, I upgrade the iPad and was already approved for AI. So I can avoid the line later. Going to leave the phone on 18.0 until 18.1 gets a little more mature.

I hate to say it, but you’re not missing too much at this point. That’ll change but for now its pretty meh.

Agree, but I thought I remember somewhere Apple said when being released it won't be open to everyone right away. So trying to make sure I don't get caught in the back of the line.

Searched thru the thread and forums but has anyone else had problems with messages in 18.1 beta 2? Started yesterday afternoon, photos, GIFs, and links hang forever and fail repeatedly. Can force to send as SMS but will randomly go thru.

I'm not having the exact issues you are, but am getting some weird behavior that I'll share in case someone else out there is having either of these issues. The order of my messages to other iPhones flip, meaning even if I'm the most recent message, my message still displays above the one before mine. Force closing the app seems to fix it. No trigger than I can identify, and it just started last night.

Oh for sure. I’m not sure Apple said that or one of the pundits did. But I remember hearing that.

So now the voice memos doesn't work on Mac OS or iOS18.1 B2 if there is a call in progress. ****ing stupid.

Kinda seems like multiple bugs popping up over time, wonder if there’s a root cause that will get fixed next week. Submitted several feedback reports.

As long as you don’t put 18.1 on your phone it won’t get the AI stuff

Shared Albums is completely borked in 18.1b2.

I created a Shared Album on my MBP, it hasn't shown up on my iPhone. My iPhone is showing 3 previous Shared Albums, but they're empty. I created a new Shared Album on the iPhone, it hasn't shown up on the MBP. My gf didn't even get the invite.

Deleted it and remade it on the MBP, she instantly got the invite.

Seemingly as of this morning (unless I’ve completely missed it before), my notifications on the Lock Screen are surrounded by the Siri edge glow. Not all of them, though.

iPhone connected to Apple Watch and CarPlay won’t play text tones if locked. At least not for me. It happened in a previous beta too but was fixed.

Isn't that when Apple Intelligence is summarizing your notifications? Without the glow, it means they are "as is", not summarized.

Been playing with AppInt - Writing Tools in Pages to see what it can / cannot do.

During the many docs I messed with, WritingTools would occasionally just turn off. See first two attachments.
Other times it showed up. See the third attachment. Is there a way to rearrange the bar menu order? I use Lookup often.

For the most part it performs rewrites fairly well. If you hand it an article where the person focus changes it will attempt to “fix” it to a single person - 1st person, 3rd person, etc…. It handles grammar mishaps well (US English) and basic document structure.

Giving it a document on one of the many topics it find as “problematic” will results in a “warning” - see fourth attachment - and when you proceed it seems to do … okay. Carefully read the outcome as I found it can change the underlying position of the writer. It would really help if Apple published a list of items or topics that fall into this category.

So far so good. Did this on my iPad Pro. Looking forward to see where this goes.

btw - spell check is abysmal!

Not that I’m aware of.

I’ve also noticed that sometimes other portions of the screen will go unresponsive for several seconds at a time, and after I’ve been tapping a target several times and not getting a response, the Type to Siri interface will suddenly launch, despite me not tapping anywhere near the home bar. Clearly still some bugs to work out there.
So it 100% has to do with tap to siri. I found out how to disable the option. It’s in Apple intelligence and Siri in setting and turn off tap for Siri. I no longer have any unresponsiveness when swiping up from the bottom.

Turned mine off for now and, yeah, this is a much better experience. No more random unresponsive issues.

Are you using the Reduce Interruptions focus?

At one point yes. But not each time I saw this effect. I checked because I thought that might be the source.

But that does lead me to wonder if the notifications getting the effect came in while I was in that focus mode.

Will have to see if I can replicate that.

I had the response issue for a bit, but been going for 2 whole days since a hard reboot with it not happening since. I did not disable type to Siri either.

Yeap. Seems I have hit the issue but much less often. So who knows. What do know is it is much better with it disabled. Plus, I don’t ever use tap for Siri ever.
