What equipment do you have? I’m running wifi6 mesh. Most I hit in iPhone 15 pro max is around 600 up and down on symmetrical gigabit fiber. On Ethernet I’m like 980 up and down.
6e is what allows for the crazy speeds I get. I'm guessing yours is 6 not 6e. 6e only works when you're close so it's mostly useless.

My isp equipment happens to have it so my speed tests look impressive. One room over at night I get 1100 down but during the day when the house is active it's more like 800down. definitely way less throughout most of the house. I don't have mesh because the modem covers the house just fine but there is option to add pods and it works as mesh. I'm just lucky it's not needed.

I'm in Canada on Bell. They use sagecom all in one modem/router. I think currently it's called Gigahub but that's the Bell branding not the model from sagecom.

My internet plan is 1.5gigabit. i can't remember if it's 1.5G down and 900up or it's actually symmetrical because over the years they've changed it. That's nothing special in my city in Canada. We have 3gigabit too and some areas have 8gigabit but also some places don't have proper fibre either.

On Ethernet I get 940 up/down because all my Ethernet devices only have a gigabit network card so can't do higher.

Android devices had 6e longer and I find get even better speeds. Noticed it with the family members with pixels & Samsungs for a couple years now.

I am not sure if this is an 18.1 beta 2 thing, an 18.0 thing or simply an American Siri voice thing (until 18.1 beta 1, I was an avowed British voice person): in Carplay (and presumably in AirPods), Siri reads messages with a great deal of inflection. In the past, I've heard slight inflection of certain words, but what I heard earlier today was dramatically more, er, dramatic than what I have heard before. Is this an American Siri thing or is this evidence that Siri itself is getting some freshening ahead of the big overhaul?

Anyway to disable that? There is a setting to enable and disable type to Siri but doesn’t seem to work for this double tap at the bottom
Not that I’m aware of.

I’ve also noticed that sometimes other portions of the screen will go unresponsive for several seconds at a time, and after I’ve been tapping a target several times and not getting a response, the Type to Siri interface will suddenly launch, despite me not tapping anywhere near the home bar. Clearly still some bugs to work out there.

I’ve had a couple of good experiences with type to Siri but I was attempting to show my wife the new interface and the edge glow came up and flashed according to works spoken so I know she was listening but she just never responded.

That aside, I’m really digging the email summaries. They’re very concise and save a lot of time in my use case. Big thumbs up.

This keyboard, on the other hand, is an abomination.

Yeah the keyboard is a hot mess right now. I’m also appreciating the text and email summaries, and enjoy playing the Feedback app “game” where it asks me about the quality of AI summaries and I keep leveling up when submitting feedback…

I’ve sent feedback quite a few times, most of them positive. It literally already sounds (types) like me.

I just the Australian female voice. Once in a while I may change to Irish or South African but mostly stick with Aussie.

I think it's part of the new and improved Siri. Pretty sure they mentioned a new voice for Siri in the keynote.

Yeah. I’m considering going WiFi 7 for future some benefits even if I can’t realize the full speed potential. Just my current mesh, orbi, is the first I have found to cover my home have tried 2 others and had speed and loss of connection issues. The Orbi WiFi 7 is bank. Considering going all in with unifi with maybe 3 of their WiFi 7 aps and bypassing my gateway when and if I upgrade to 2gb or 5gb internet.

Just out of curiosity: what is the use case for internet speeds over 1 gb? Even at 400mb, there is virtually nothing that doesn’t download for me at an acceptable rate. I never have any lag in video or audio streaming. Probably the only time I notice anything is when I’m downloading these betas and it takes 10 seconds vs (I’m guessing) 2-3 seconds.

Is anyone else having issues with the mail app loading new mail? Unless plugged into power nothing loads if I don’t open the app. The fetch settings is on hourly.

I'm not panicking, yet, because I know Photos takes a while to process any sharing, but I went to create a new shared album on my MBP on Sequoia 15.1b2 and as I dragged my photos to that shared album, the listing of the rest of my shared albums vanished, only to come back shortly after.

However, they're all empty.

On my phone on 18.1b2, only three shared albums are currently being shown (the new one isn't among them) and they're empty as well.

Edit: However many hours later, my other shared albums have come back and I've got thumbnails of solid colors representing the photos in the new shared album.

Edit 2: No change on the MBP and iPhone. It's still just solid color thumbnails on the Mac and all my shared albums gone on my iPhone.

It also has to do with the number of active connections.
Currently use a 1GB 6 system, one router/modem combo that cover whole home, and with home items, tvs, phones, laptops, tablets, etc…. and there are times I can tell when the number of active connections climbs.

Still, speed is nice ;)

For my 15 ProMax, as long as I am close to the m/r, great speed. More than 10ft away it is noticeably slower than my S24U. But this has been an issue for 18.x, not just this beta.

I work with large databases and work from home. The faster the internet the more free time I have. Also when dealing with it I saturate my gigabit connection.

Yeah, I noticed this too with 18.1 b1, and continuing with b2. Siri sounds slightly more human in some ways, but in other ways... almost sad. I asked it to read my latest messages, and at the end, said, "That's everything," and it was the saddest expression, almost like, "Is that all there is?" I had Siri tell me a joke and it was so morose and deadpan it made it even more humorous.

I suspect there will continue to be some refinements as we go forward.

pissed off the recent call log menu got rid of the requiring you to hit the arrow to view the profile to intentionally call the contact. ive misdialed so many times accidentally tapping a recent call in the list. that was a great improvement they took out for beta 2.
Yeah... I liked that too. I guess more people complained about the change... sucks cause now I have to re-learn behavior.. again 😂

I am really curious to hear other people’s experience with this. I was ready to pull the trigger but this would be enough for me to hold off if it’s an across the board issue.

Are the AI sign ups per Apple account or per device? I am thinking about upgrading my iPad now so I can avoid waiting lists later. But I am not ready to upgrade my phone to this version yet.

I've submitted feedback for this issue. Works flawlessly with mail that's pushed but anything that is set to fetch does't load unless you manually check & pull down.
