If you want to transfer your existing data of the iPhone running on 18.1, you will need to upgrade the iPhone 16 to 18.1 as well (it will offer you to do that before you start the transfer).
To follow up on the other response, you will have to put 18.1 on your new phone as you won’t be able to restore an 18.1 backup to a phone running 18.0. But as indicated, the Apple setup process will recognize that you are running 18.1 on your court current phone and will offer to make the upgrade for you before you start loading data
I believe (and hope) that if you do the iPhone to iPhone smart transfer (or whatever it’s actually called) it will just transfer over. If you set up via iCloud you will have to put new phone on 18.1 first.
18.1 beta is currently for testing AI features and is only available for 15 Pro and 16 which support Apple Intelligence at the moment.

Nope, that's one of the AI features which requires 15 Pro or 16.
Me too for some reason :/ even did a force restart to see if it fixes something “bugged”. No luck. Hopefully b4 is out this week sometime as it’s been over 2 weeks since b3.
Found a bug and reported it.
If I go into health, browse I see unreadable data, select it the health app crashes. Reboot phone same issue.
Most likely Apple will take their time fixing this, as other bugs have priority.

FYI, Just got an iPhone 16 Pro and running IOS version 22B5054e with NO problems so far. Upgrade from iPhone 13 Pro was easy peasy with iPhones side by side. My wife got a Speck case which she really likes. ATT offered $1,000 on trade in for iPhone 13 Pro. The 16 camera seems to be great.
I did not post the correct info. My wife's iPhone 13 Pro was running IOS 18.1 Beta 4 when I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro and the transfer worked without any problems with both iPhones side by side. The iPhone 16 Pro is now IOS 18.1 Beta 5. The Apple transfer took care of the IOS SW 18.1 install on the iPhone 16 Pro which was the Op's question. Sorry for the confusion.
