Is anyone else unable to stop getting iOS 18 betas, even after turning off the betas?
I have turned the betas off, but each time a new beta is released, I am getting a prompt to install it.
Surely, it didn't work like that during the previous years?
Is there a solution to this?
If I restore the device will it go away or am I stuck with this problem?
Maybe this device is marked on Apple's server as a beta device, no matter what I select in the settings?
Still, it doesn't make any sense...

How about perhaps using your dads or an older relatives faces that’s similar to yours ? Just throwing out some ideas.
I tried that, but my dad looks great. However, anyone without a mustache looks way too young. I thought it be smart by using contact info and adjust accordingly.

AirTags functioning fine on 18.1 on my 16 Pro Max. I have lot of them and they’re all working as expected so it seems like a beta bug.
Thanks, buddy. Now, someone with a 16 Pro Max with 18.2 b2 installed and getting the same issue?

You need to restore to the last stable release, I.e. 18.1. If you have a beta installed, you will be prompted to install the next version of it. Actually, from a dev point of view, get stuck in an old version of a beta software does not make sense…

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Actually, I have the latest stable release installed, specifically:
iOS 18.1 (22B83).
I updated to it via OTA, though and did not restore.
But I didn't have this problem before, for example, I didn't need to restore when the official iOS 17 came out, I just installed the official release, turned off the betas and that was it...

But with iOS 18 I've been having this problem for a long time.
I even had it when the official iOS 18 release came out and the same thing happened with the official 18.1 release.

In the end, I had to turn off the automatic updates, so that I get to choose which updates to install and which to skip, otherwise all the betas were getting automatically downloaded to my device.
So I manually install only the official updates, but I still get prompts to install the betas as if I had the beta button switched on, which is weird.

Is it possibly because the update had already downloaded? If you go into iPhone Storage in settings can you delete it and does that resolve the issue if so?

Crazy how much better the 16PM is with cooling. It isn’t hot at all after updating.

My 15PM used to always heat up for basic tasks.
My concern is it shouldn’t heat up anyways, not that bad. Back in the day, day to day tasks didn’t use to warm a phone up, and heat means higher power consumption, even if dissipated better. That I do not prefer or like :/

Unfortunately no, it's not downloaded...

After installing the first official 18.0 update and having decided that I was done with the betas until next year, I turned the betas off, but then a couple of days later, a beta got automatically downloaded on my phone and notified me that it would install later in the night.

After that incident, I went to delete the download and turned off automatic updates, along with the betas that were already off.

So now, the betas don't download automatically anymore, but the prompts to download them remain...

That’s strange, my AirPod pro are working as normal in ‘find my’ today. They were showing that they were out of their case yesterday. I haven’t touched them either.

The tab closing gesture is now way too sensitive. I close tabs just by scrolling up and down. I don‘t know what they did during the iOS 18 beta phase but they really messed it up coming from iOS 17.

AirTags were not working for me on 18.1b1. After upgrading to b2 still not working even though supposed to be fixed. To fix I removed and re-added in find my app and now work fine - UWB etc.
This has saved me, im going on a trip 🤣. Just had to reset each AirTag manually after deleting from find my, just take out the battery, and put it on and out about 5 times or more until the sound it’s different. Because deleting in the app does not make the connection to the AirTag.

For many years now, Apple’s iPhone processors have been considerably over-specced. Virtually no one could put a load on it that could tax it.

Now, we have with Apple Intelligence what I believe is the first commercialized on-mobile-device implementation of a large language model-based artificial intelligence system.

Server based LLMs are notorious for their power consumption, so much so that major data centers running them are considering building or re-commissioning nuclear power plants to process them with consistent electrical power.

Here, we are talking about the same thing but in miniature, running trillions of computations per second, on a 3/4” thick form factor that fits in the palm of your hand.

Of course it’s going to get warm. Of course it’s going to use a lot of battery.

It’s just a miracle that it’s even able to happen.

Strange…or the system is now finished setting itself up.

Thanks, man - I’ll try to repair them too.

I have the same situation, in a way. I’m on the current general release of 18.1 on both my phone and ipad. I still have beta updates enabled and both devices have the notification that 18.2 is available. I’m ignoring that for now. The initial 18.2 release just had too many complaints for me to bother with it, and I’m not certain that this second release is much better, yet; still waiting for more feedback.

In the past, when I wanted to stop beta updates, I toggled off the setting but then had to restart the device to clear the notifications. So if you haven’t yet restarted, try that. I also have automatic updates enabled on both devices, but oddly, 18.2 was downloaded to my phone but not my iPad. I deleted the download from iPhone storage and then turned off beta updates, and the 18.2 notification disappeared, and software update says I’m up to date on 18.1. That happened without me restarting the phone. I’m waiting a little bit but will probably do the same on my iPad, but since the software was not downloaded, I’ll not need to go through that step.

Anyone still seeing this? I did the update from 18.2 b1 to b2 about 18 hours ago via ISPW and phone was plugged in overnight to charge. (16 Pro Max)
I saw that with the 18.1 final release. It cleared in about 36 hours. I’ve seen it several times on my 16PM but I don’t think it’s occurred on my ipad.
