A question, if I may. Does anyone use their Apple watch, while beta testing on their phone? Just curious how the watch might be affected. Planning on getting an Apple watch soon.
I have the beta on my phone but the regular software on my watch. The watch performs as expected, no bugs whatsoever.

I’d recommend that you never put a beta on your watch because it is impossible to roll the watch back to a regular release version, so if there is a bad bug, you’re stuck with it.

I have experienced this is the past - it can ruin your watch experience. Fine with the phone as you can always go back to a release version of iOS.

Back on the Apple AI.
Had it completely disabled for around half a day and turned it back on while charging yesterday in the evening.
Needed space for the AI went back down to 6,21 GB (over 8 Gb before) and it’s working again. New Siri animation is there.

Decided to go back to 18.3.1.

Beta 2 runs ok, no major issues I think. A few minor rendering issues with notifications on the lock screen but that’s all really.

Just a bit ‘over’ Apple Ai now that they’ve pushed the feature out. As it currently functions, it’s basically a rubbish resource hog on your phone. Not worth being in beta mode in my humble opinion.

I thought we’d get iPhone screen sharing to Mac in the EU, that would be worth it.

The way it stands, I don’t think we’ll get anything interesting until iOS 19 now. Bit of a bummer but that’s Apple.

The best thing about AI (I have it disabled on my laptop - my phone is too old for it) is that it's finally forced Apple to put more than the bare minimum of RAM into its devices.

Plus, without AI hammering the hardware (RAM and battery mainly) these devices run well.

The TV app no longer remembers where you are in a show. Every time you restart a show (or movie) you were watching, it starts at the beginning. ipadOS 18.4 beta 2, fairly new ipad pro 12.9.

100% agree. I’m actually kind of annoyed at Apple for putting such cr*p software on my phone and Mac. Ai is their weakest feature - I don’t think they are any good at it. Give up Apple 🤦🏻‍♂️

Can’t you just disable AI? I have found 18.4 beta 2 to be great on my iPad and iPhone. Granted both are too old for AI, but they are fast and smooth on the beta. Much better than 18.3.1.

The old iPhone simply don’t have enough RAM to run Intelligence proper.
If the RAM on iPhone 13/14 pro is the entire disk space and I have 108GB available, what's the size RAM Apple Intelligence needs? Only 7GB of storage, isn't it? I am not into phones the way most people do and this is the first time I am participating in the beta program for IOS. I am more a MacBook pro/ Mac Pro kind of person.

The beta is very good indeed, I agree. There are just a few rough edges I see here and there. I’d put up with those little things if there was anything in the beta really valuable…I just can’t see anything really good there. Feels like a boring beta/update to me. I’m actually over the moon to be back on 18.3.1 - it has always been a good release from my perspective.

Yes, you can turn off apple AI in the settings. But when these are older devices (no 15 Pro at least or an M1 or higher device) than you haven’t have anything AI related available anyway.

Yes I know that. I kind of assumed that the newer devices even with AI off would have very good performance as I am experiencing on my older devices.

You‘re mixing up RAM with Flash storage…

had to redo the process a third time this morning :(

Hoping really fror Beta 3 to fix that ...

Apple Intelligence is a complete joke.
Eraser is something made by a 8 year old, it is simply so bad and comical.

Remember the Keynote last September?
About 80% in that Keynote was a complete lie and 100% misinformation now it seems.
Almost their entire Keynote was build on A.I. on the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.

Why should we now believe Apple it's coming next year?
Give me one reason why I should trust Apple now after last September...

But then again, shareholders say a "big thank you iPhone 16 Series buyers!"

It's the only (!!) group that really benefits from the iPhone, not the consumer.
I kind of agree. Apple seriously messed up. It’s evident by them making their postponement announcement on a Friday - a clear attempt to bury the bad news.

As a buyer of a 16 Pro Max, I do feel cheated by Apple’s advertising. This should be a bigger story than it currently is.

Uff. Annoying!
Mine is working since the „restart“ but haven’t used the AI features so heavily since that.
Still pretty early in the beta cycle so we can be sure it will be improved. Wonders me nevertheless that the AI apps are so buggy because it’s implemented since iOS 18.1 - 18.3, only for EU/Germany it’s a new package with 18.4.

Think it’s somewhere in between. With a delay of some features it’s not really a cheat by them. This can happen… does that mean it’s ok, for sure not.
But it would be something different when these features coming later and not longer for the devices it was announced for, this would be cheating/betrayal.
Some of the AI features are already there… at least.

I have went back to non-beta until we get a new update. I couldn't take the constant cellular data usage draining my battery and there is still issues with photos not showing, stalling productivity
