2 weird glitches.

1. Notifications got stuck on left side

2. Using dictation in an email put multiple paragraphs in between the text.

Hm.. I figured most people used Spark or Superhuman by now. They're both so good!

In all my glancing at the updates Apple has introduced to Mail with iOS 18 and macOS 15, I haven't been swayed at all to make much use of it

Superhuman is so FAST, and all the new AI tools inside of it (especially for Mac) - make it by far the best email client I've ever come across. Yep, it's worth every dime
Not heard of Superhuman (the app) but tried Spark when it first came out.

Despite my current notification issue, I like the stock mail app on both iOS and MacOS. I have an iCloud email address, a Google one and three IMAP ones. Everything works well, and I'm happy with the GUI. All I'm missing is a "ping" I often don't hear anyway 😁

That doesn't exist on my phone.

Did you mean "Primary"?

I'm convinced all my settings are correct, as I've not changed them and prior to the last two betas I had sound notifications.

But for the avoidance of questions ... under Mail / Customise Notifications I have "All Unread Messages" selected and - even though it's not necessary as it used to work without it - "Primary Inbox" notifications also set.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the notifications work perfectly apart from a lack of sound. Turning sounds off, changing settings to a different sound etc have all failed. I'm 98% sure it's a beta problem. Maybe 99%

It's bugs like the notification misalignment that make this look like a beta. I don't really see visual bugs as bad as that on a final release.

iPhone 16 Pro, battery life feels better on this over 18.3.2. I’m still within the first 24 hrs so even with potential indexing I am seeing this.

Yeah, doesn't really bother me as it's a beta. Just throwing them out there for reference.
I’m hoping that the next beta/GM next week fixes the little ui niggles like these.

Gotta wonder why betas quite often mess up the rendering of notifications. Must be quite janky code in that area that’s easily broken.

It's been available in Orange Spain and many of its sub-brands for a long time. I find it strange that it took so long to activate RCS in its home market.
I didn't know that ! It's crazy indeed .

> Mail notifications still silent

How can it be this bad, how can a $trillion company ship such obviously faulty software?

I'm quite frustrated. I missed an important email today, seriously almost threw my iPhone across the room.

If there was ANY other reasonable option, if androids and PCs weren't so creepy and awful, I'd sell all my apple gear and never look back.
No disrespect. But maybe don’t run the betas? At least not on your daily driver.

All good,
I had a few tabs open and mistakenly commented in the beta thread by mistake,
I'm running 18.3.2 and I'm experiencing some bugs/issues..
Sorry. That’s awful. A public release shouldn’t be so buggy. Maybe x.0 but certainly not x.3.

Is it okay to update yet? I'm still on iOS 17 and everything is working flawlessly and I don't wanna wreck it.

Should you update to iOS 18 Survey

  1. Do you want blank spaces on your home screen or darker, almost neon icons?
  2. Do you want to edit Control Center?
  3. Do you want text effects in Messages (bold, italic, etc.)?
  4. Do you want a separate app for managing passwords?
  5. Do you want a history feature in your calculator?

If you answered yes to more than one of those:

  • Are you willing to put up with a slightly reduced battery life?
  • Are you willing to put up with changes to the Maps app and Photos app that you may not like?
  • Are you willing to use another app other than the stock Mail app? (or at least put up with its semi-broken state)

iOS 18.4 b4 is pretty good - love Visual Intelligence and battery stable.
Idle from 8am > 12pm didn't move from 100%.

15PM, 91% battery, 260 cycles.

It’s not broken - it is intended like this I believe - we now have to live with that BS 🙄
I really dislike it too
Lots of people have been saying it is working as intended but I won't believe it until we can figure out what the setting actually does lol. right now setting it to on or off presents zero change, even dragging and dropping. functionality is exactly the same.

So far with 4, I haven't seen anything fixed, of the items I ran into, but I have a couple of new ones.
Really hope things are in better shape by RC.

Newest issue: Calendar widget (Outlook, Calendar) won’t show upcoming appts / events unless they are “Today”. Prior to this update I was able to see upcoming events. Proton Calendar continues to work well.
