iMessage photos show in the text thread but not in the photo gallery in iMessage for just some contacts. Others are working fine. I sent a photo to a contact and it shows in the text thread but not in the iMessage photo gallery. That same contact sent me a photo and it does show in photo gallery. Seems like it’s photos and screenshots and videos that I send that do not get saved in iMessage photo gallery. iOS 18.5 RC installed and this is still not fixed on iPhone 15pro. Anyone else?

It’s times like these I miss the Steve Jobs era. The attention to detail used to be synonymous with Apple.

Early impressions on my 16e are very good for this RC.

Since Charging this morning the battery appears to be draining slower, still a bit early to pass judgement yet though.

Performance and speed are notable improvements over the last beta with apps & content loading super fast. Also less instances of the device warming up.

Keyboard lag seen in some apps in previous betas has been eradicated

No bugs to report yet.

Keyboard lag when typing is the exact same and the whole ui smoothness is the exact same than in 18.4 so I’m sure it’s a placebo your feeling

I lost my FACE ID system after updating to this build!

thank gosh that I was at home when this happened....I turned off stolen device protection!

UPDATE! after resetting the device (did not help) and then I backed up the iPhone and powered it down resetted Face ID and it started working! WHEW!

now I think I will hold off on Stolen phone protection for a while! WHEW!

Well it’s been a while since it was on 18.4 (which was good) I’m comparing it to the public betas of 18.5 which came before last nights RC, which weren’t great imo and obviously not as good as the last stable 18.4.1 I used.

You’d hope that an RC is going to be very good as it’s now ready for release soon…

18.5 RC is excellent so far and my comments still stand 😄

Any update regarding the screen / display flickering when AOD is on if this sofware update resolved the issue?

You will. It always shows up properly for the first few times you check and then eventually the battery percentage under the case just stops showing up.

It always shows up fine in the first screenshot you sent, but once you enter the AirPods Settings area you’ll see that the case battery percentage doesn’t appear anymore.
Still working fine for me.

I’ve installed 18.5 RC and now my iMessages are being sent from my email address rather than my phone number. If I try and switch it to my phone number it just says that an error occurred during activation. Same with FaceTime.

Anybody else seen this?

I had exactly that problem, when i had a multi-sim card (2 SIM cards with the same phone number) and put the 2nd card in my spare SE 2020. That deactivated the number for iMessage and Facetime on my primary phone and Apple support was not able to rectify that - problem with Apple absolutely not being able to handle more than 1 SIM card with the same phone number! I had to take out the 2nd card and put it in a dumb phone. Then I had to wait for few days (2-3 don't remember exactly) and i could reactivate iMessage and Facetime with phone number on the primary device.

Thanks but this is just a single SIM in my 15 PM. I’ve tried everything in Apple’s help document for this but still not working. I guess it could be an issue with my mobile provider (EE UK) so I’ll leave it 24 hours and see if it works then.

Agreed, I went straight from 18.4.1 and never heated during or after update. Running cool as a cucumber, battery is already awesome so far today, and everything is faster and more fluid. Nice update so far.
