Assuming the Siri improvement is later on as she is still dumb as a stump.

Annoying change; asked Siri for the current weather and she gave me the temp with a pop up weather widget (temp only) on the Home Screen that just sat there. Was hoping for the current weather, not just the temp.

So okay, still have dumb Siri.

So are there no AI features at all then yet?? Even changed my language to English US and still the same old Siri

Bit there yet, as we were told in the keynote, coming later in the summer……..

I‘m in the camp of the disappointed. I didn’t expect a complete overhaul like iOS 6 to 7 but I really was expecting some major design updates that resemble the modern visionOS look. Like the alert boxes, notifications, keyboard, menu bars. I really don’t know why they are allergic to a more modern look.

iPadOS is a lazy one too like always. There was so so much potential for the new M4 chips, just look at the macOS features like iPhone mirroring. Why on earth does the iPad have not the same macos status bar? Why is everything still a stretched out iPhone version?!?! I don’t get it. Why don’t we get those new snapped windows and 4 at the same time? I don’t expect my iPad to be a Mac but fml apple. I don’t know why I still have huge expectations year after year after year.

iOS is mature enough to only update the design language from time to time and add smaller features like multiview or those long overdue features like hiding apps or lock them. But iPadOS has so damn much unused potential.. even updating the design for a 11 or 13 inch screen would be a huuuuge step.

Yeah from what I’ve seen it looks like a child made this design change

Been that way since iOS 7, I have most of my icons customized through shortcuts, but as we know that’s a trad off since you lose badges and the long press menu.

Tinting all the icons the same color makes them all look so similar, reminds me of some of the dozens of crappy free icons sets that are in Cydia where they just invert the stock icon colors. Not all of the icons are terrible, but there are several that burn my retinas, like the photos icon and Reminders, kind of blows my mind that those things are all Apple can do over the span of more than a decade. I really thought this was the year we’d see a change, see ya next year!

For those that use tapbacks in iMessage, if you message a pre iOS18 user, it appears that it notifies the recipient, but there is no tapback emoji attached to the message

I’ve messaged two iOS users both get the tapbacks but don’t appear in colour just the old grey tones

My current iOS17 Home using shortcuts. Will probably just do this on iOS 18 once Shortcuts & Widgy are confirmed as working.

Calculator feels slightly laggy on my XS (I haven't installed on my main phone so don't know if it's device specific), but the new changes are pretty nice.

Safari tab animations also appear smoother.

Noticed that if you have audio playing while the device is locked, and you get notifications... they open UNDER the audio widget.. (see below if my word jumble doesn't make sense) :D

13 pro max. Lock Screen gets no notifications. (Visually). I hear myself getting the texts and emails and such.

Same, can’t see any of the new stuff
I know they mentioned the categorization stuff would come "in the fall" but I didn't think that meant there would be nothing for mail... It has been need of a refresh for so long.. they could at least add in some better formatting options.. that shouldn't be too difficult I'd think

I’m confident they said no changes to mail until later in the summer. I’m disappointed that there isn’t any changes I’d have took the visual changes but left the category function till later

Iphone 12, I know AI Siri is later in the year but it is also still a ball, not the screen glow thing.
Icons still snap to grid,
Contacts icon is blank in Large icon mode.
Reminders is calendar could be useful I guess.
Albums are still in the Photos redesign , thank goodness.
