iOS 18 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

So Sequoia beta is only for Apple Silicon Mac's for now? Kinda lame. A fresh install of iOS 18 requires Sequoia beta, so I'm out of luck.

I updated to iOS 18 OTA, I'll just do a complete reset.

I don’t know if someone already replied; but you can just download the Xcode Beta

I just hope it does not f!ck up CarPlay because I am installing it on both of my iPhones 😂

So CarPlay works perfectly and I love the color customisation options now.

Oh the "Today" screen, or whatever it's called, pre-iOS 14 widgets are no longer available.

That's a bugger as I was still using one: Logitech Harmony.

Some people in this thread really shouldn't be beta testing. It's like they expect a finished OS that Apple just decides to release early for some reason?

If you can't handle bugs, don't use beta.

Can some of you brave people who installed beta 1 describe the "notifications not showing" bug to me? Seems quite a dealbreaker, right? Are some notifications simply not appearing at all, anywhere?

Here the new accesiblity feature to reduce dizziness in a moving vehicle. Activated by itself in the bus, now at a train and it shows up again but as the movement is more smooth they stay almost still.

What iPhone model are you using? Not seeing it on my XS Max. (Hesitant to install iOS 18 on my 14 Pro as my banking apps might not work lol)

13 pro max. Lock Screen gets no notifications. (Visually). I hear myself getting the texts and emails and such.

I had the same experience. Changing the way notifications are displayed (e.g. to a number) and restarting the phone helped. Later, I changed the display to the previous one and notifications started appearing on the lock screen

Same experience here. Changing it from List to Count and then back to List definitely improved it.

On the Today screen some widgets are light instead of dark. I am using dark mode. I can change the widgets to dark by choosing customise but then system icons are dark as well which I don't want. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Why won’t anybody talk about the severe consequences of integrated AI for heaven’s sake? Privacy is one thing, but why would you allow the slow degeneration of your brain and thinking skills by giving AI the power to articulate your thoughts? You have an AI that writes Emails for you so...

Removing icon labels is good as gives a cleaner look.

Worth updating just for that!

Just don’t initiate it. So, if you’re typing something and it pops up asking if you want AI to review it, just don’t, etc.

Until it’s in the beta, I can’t visually show or give exact details, but even in the keynote, it shows you basically initiate when you’re wanting to use AI features.

AI features are not yet available in the beta. We all know as much as Apple showed yesterday, so if you watched the keynote or the macrumors news, you know everything they said so far

I could add widgets, sure, but not the old pre-iOS 14 ones that (in iOS 17) are shown at the bottom via a different editing system.
