Firstly, everyone on this thread knows the consequences and there’s no need for senseless lectures. Either move on or help with the concern. Most on this site are very helpful and we’re here to resolves problems and we help each other. But I digress…

Anyway, I’m sure Apple knows of the bug and it was sent along with others…sometimes people on this site have a work around and that’s what I was hoping for…it’s hit or miss but it’s assuring to know people on here smarter than me usually find a workaround around.
You know what’s interesting, there is a public beta for iOS 18. It’s not just developers, and if we as the public didn’t beta test, how would Apple know if it’s bug free or not.

Saying it shouldn’t be on a main phone, ok fine but most people in the “public” don’t have two phones.

Apple really really doesn’t need our feedback. Is it helpful? Sure. Do they need it? No.

These are my exact words:

“so I’m going to have to find a workaround….this needs to be fixed and thanks for the heads up.”

I’m going to have to find a work around. Where am I demanding Apple fix it now? I’m stating a fact, it needs to be fixed to the other poster.

With a work around or I need to find an option…and yes, it does need to be fixed and it will. Like I really expect Apple to heed my demand…NOW!!! Seriously…Why do you even care? Just ignore my post…if you have a resolution then help if not ignore me. I’ll move on now rather than clutter this thread.

So, does it need to be fixed? Yes or no?

The reason I jump on posts like yours is because Apple is very clear that beta users should not be using the beta on devices that are critically important to them. You did so anyways and then had the temerity to blame Apple for it and demand that they fix it. It doesn’t matter that Apple may not act immediately. You still demanded that it be fixed.

These types of posts clutter up these threads needlessly. Those of us who are here regularly warn others about not doing this before “beta season” begins. Futilely, it would appear.

Heeding my own advice, I am signing out of this particular conversation effective now.

They don’t? So what’s the point then? Why do they have feedback setup? Why do people say report? Seems to me that some of these bugs never get fixed, so clearly they need some help. If it were just released without betas it would be a bit of a mess.

Seems Apple deems feedback and beta testing pretty critical.

“Developer feedback is vital to making the Apple ecosystem even better.”

Remember: the betas were originally designed to allow developers to have access to the new APIs and features ahead of public release so they could have their apps ready to take advantage of the new iOS. The public betas came only a few years ago.

I’m sure the feedback beta users provide is helpful. But I suspect it’s not nearly as impactful as those of us submitting feedback would like to think. And probably the most helpful are the logs transmitted to Apple without our intervention. But I suspect that where Apple gets the absolute most value is with suggestions on the user interface side, as we’ve seen this year with the Photos app and two years ago with the big Safari changes.

So that’s a bit of a backtrack from what you originally said. But yes I know the original betas were just for developers (which I use to be one. Have had a developer account for a very long time), but the OS was tested by someone. In house without a doubt, and the developers.

I don’t for a minute think Apple listens to all the feedback and makes changes. I have submitted feedback for years about the keyboard having lag when I first start typing, and that has yet to be fully fixed. I submitted feedback about message notifications coming in as just saying iMessage and not showing who it’s from, that still is an issue. So I recognize not all feedback changes things, but your example is perfect. The photos app. Had that just been released to the full release without beta testing, there would have been complaints everywhere and been a bad one for Apple. Our suggestions on the photos app help.

My point being, we are not here to say what gets fixed or doesn’t by Apple. But as beta testers (I am a developer beta tester), it’s critical for us to submit feedback when we see a bug. That’s the only way it’s gonna have a chance of being fixed.

Gotta say - I’ve been running the beta 5 build of iOS on a 15 Pro Max and I’m really enjoying it a lot!

I see a few minor bugs but they seem tiny to me, there’s nothing that actually affects usability or functionality. I can easily use this as a daily driver as far as I can tell (but wouldn’t recommend that of course).

I’m confident at this point that Apple will have a very good release for us come September - it already feels solid as a rock to me.

Also, I’m actually delighted to not have the AI features - I don’t think I really need them until the entire concept of AI has been more fully developed. Also I’m in the EU so won’t have it for the foreseeable future. This feels like a bit of a benefit surprisingly.

Just came to check to see if anyone else was having this issue on their phone. It does work on my iPad on iPadOS 18 but not on the phone.
Yeah figured it might be a beta issue when my wife said hers is fine. It was working last night so seems like a server side issue for beta devices.

not working for me in iOS 18 Beta 5(find my), phone has been rebooted multiple times, according to feedback I did should be fixed in an update.

I connected my VPN through the control center, it showed as connected next to the WiFi symbol. I disconnected the VPN in control center but the VPN symbol still shows, I confirmed in settings and on my VPN app that the VPN is in fact disconnected. A reboot fixed the issue.
