I think „getting hot“ is also something very subjective.
When you have a situation where the phone really gets „hot“ check out the battery statistics if there is any app causing this.
During charging it’s normal that the phone gets a bis warm especially around 30-70% charging.

Hot means you can fill it through the case and it feels like it would almost be too hot to hold if out of a case.

No apps using the battery, but it was very warm.

Ok but for one more or less quick picture, I highly doubt that the phone really gets hot in such a short time.
Gaming especially might be different, for sure there isn’t any kind of optimisation for far for iOS 18 and/or a bug with this new game mode on the phone.
Oh that’s a good point with the new game mode, maybe I try to deactivate it while gaming and see if it changes anything!

I know what hot means, and yes I feel it though my otterbox on the sides and the back of my phone

No problem, I just hope the heat problems get fixed when the update is going live worldwide

Even when I am on macrumors.com the phone gets at least warm in the area of the volume buttons and on the upper back area of the camera…

And I can’t tell if it was like that on 17.x too, because I got my phone early July and instantly went to the 18 beta

Safari consumes also a lot of energy during my regular usage but that was the same with iOS 17.
Do you use a very high display brightness or do you live in a warm surrounding?

Brightness is set to auto and is almost all the time at under 10% or even lower.

I live in north Germany , so no it’s not hot at all here

But now when the game mode is set to „off“ the phone does not get hot when playing my game!

I would have already rebooted my phone, but don’t want to lose my control center though!

You did the Hue page with the home kit buttons, right?
And yes, it’s still a beta. Apple itself did change some of the stuff on the control Center pages during the previous betas. It sucks to see pages removed or reset but it’s like it is with a beta.
My Hue stuff is all in homekit, so I added homekit icons. They reset after each reboot.

It's irritating, but it's a new feature in iOS 18 so I'm not expecting it to work perfectly during the betas. At worst, it's like living in the past with iOS 17.

Overall, I think these betas have been excellent. I only have an iPhone 11, but it's running really well.

Is Auto-Join Hotpot working for anyone in DB6/PB3? In iOS 17 and up until DB5/PB2 mine was working fine, but now it seems to have stopped and I need to go via WiFi and connect manually every time. 🤔

It works works for me, tested it yesterday.

Anyone's Mail app having issues? The only way I could check it was to turn iCloud Mail off, and then turn it back on. I tried restarting phone, resetting network settings, removing Mail app, and reinstalling. Now, it just spins trying to sign me in. I can check it from Spark Mail, and online fine, but I love the Mail app. Also having issue with the two-factor authentication where it flashes on screen and immediately closes. Reported in Feedback app but curious if anyone has any workarounds.

me... ;)

getting the following pretty much:

Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed.
Server message "Internal server error

(took 2344 ms)"

...this issue started on my iPPro13 in beta 5 and still persists in beta 6.
The curious me had the brilliant idea, to test the beta on my iPad as well. And surprise surprise... same issue.
Feedback was filed.

If your mail server gets you an "internal server error", it's a mail server problem, not an app problem.

Also, you should install beta 7.

Woups. my mistake.. i meant the beta 7 and the issue still is there.
as the app and the server are in one hand, i’m pretty confident, this will be fixed soon.
