Have you rebooted? And they're all still ok?

I usually reboot my phone once a day (well, I turn it off at night) but haven't since installing this latest beta, as redoing all my Home widgets is irritating. Doing it once after the beta install was enough ;)
I rebooted and the widgets reset again. I’m assuming they will come back but maybe in a few hours or day. Hopefully beta 7 fixes it.

Anyone having issues with the app Notes?
I’m using an iPhone 13, and after the beta 5 any note that I had with color mark and the new title/subtitle or is crashing or laggin a lot.

Not sure what’s going on but first time this happens since jumping into the iOS 18 beta but my 15PM is suddenly burning hot even after hard restarts. I have it on top of an ice pack now to cool off.

Yep, I had an issue with the title/subtitle aspect of a note crashing the Notes app. The note in question was shared. I reported that one and had to duplicate/re-create the offending note.

I’ve noticed my 15PM does get warm when in use and not just on charge. Seems to be random and not associated with any particular app/tasks.

I'm having the same with my 15PM. It gets very warm when using it but it's also random and not specific to any app. When it does that it of course also drains the battery faster.

Have you checked the battery stats to see what exactly might be draining it up? My iPhone 15 seems to be doing fine on DB6, so perhaps something Pro-related, like AOD?

The fun part is, there doesn't seem to be anything specific draining the battery. Usage times/percentages look the same as always. It's just that for every usage minute the battery goes down more than before.

I also seem to have a bit of a higher Home & Lock screen usage which is a bit suspicious (around 1 hour per day).

Anyone here have issues with notifications with messenger and snapchat?

Half the time I get a notification on snapchat it has my friends profile picture from messenger as the notification app icon..really weird. Reinstalled both apps and still same issue

Playing a bit Clash Royale (10-15min) makes my 15 PM getting quite warm…not normal at all!
Hope for better heat management next beta.

No, working fine here.

Do you have any widgets on them or Apple’s weather wallpaper?

I have 3 weather widgets on the lock screen but they never drained battery so far (and when they did in the start of iOS 17, they would show up as "Weather" app usage). And no widgets on the home screen or weather wallpaper (I do have that on the iPad but it behaves well, interestingly enough).

I will do some more digging, but good points, thanks!

Ok so almost a week now with the beta 6 (or public beta 4) and I really like it. For me it’s the first beta version that I’m jumped on during the iOS 18 beta period.
Battery life isn’t exceptionally great but I haven’t run into some huge drain or heat during all these days.
It’s pretty fluid on my 15 Pro.

What I like:
- Dark icons
- Custom notes for places in Apple Maps
- Customisable control center (big hopes seeing 3rd party apps with their own control center elements)
- dual language keyboard (finally!!!)
- message send later, schedule feature
- password app

Neutral:
- new photos app design (I think I’m getting used to it, I like that it’s customisable)
- overall not the visual overhaul we were hoping for, once again
- blank spaces on the homescreen (nice but it’s honestly too ridiculous to mention this feature)

Looking forward to the RC/final

That's how an old iPad of mine looked when it came into contact with water. I spilled a glass of water on the counter and it rolled into the poor old iPad.

I reported this bug in the Feedback app. It happens to me on my iPhone 15PM and iPad Pro, where the app crashes when I enter <return> to start a new line while using a font color other than black.

The beta 6 bug that’s most prevalent to me at the moment is the one where control centre components disappear 🫠

It’s a bit time consuming to re-add and rearrange them so this is the bug I’m hoping is fixed most in beta 7.

Other than that, beta 6 has been very reliable for me on a 15 Pro Max as my daily driver. I keep a spare iPhone off the beta as well as an archived backup in case anything catastrophic happens - I wouldn’t recommend a beta as a daily driver otherwise.

But, in saying that, it’s been working well. My battery longevity feels the same and I’ve had zero ‘hot phone’ occurrences bar just after initial install of the update.

Pretty happy with iOS 18. Feels like an okay progression from iOS 17. Can’t comment on the AI features as I’m in the EU so they wont exist for me (hooray I think).

Man I wish I could have the same experience like others with their 15PM - mine is getting hot randomly, and when it charges with normal 20watt adapter from Apple it gets hot too.
Other than that no problems - fingers crossed for fixes today beta 7 !

I have a control centre page nicely laid out with my Philips Hue scenes and individual bulbs. Installing beta 6 reset them all. I put them back, rebooted, and they were reset again.

So I put them back again (yes, I'm a sucker for beta punishment) and despite my usual habit of turning the phone off at night, haven't rebooted since. Let's see what B7 brings.

The icons in my control centre don't get removed or moved around; I just have to edit each Home widget/icon and reset it back to what I want.

I think „getting hot“ is also something very subjective.
When you have a situation where the phone really gets „hot“ check out the battery statistics if there is any app causing this.
During charging it’s normal that the phone gets a bis warm especially around 30-70% charging.

You did the Hue page with the home kit buttons, right?
And yes, it’s still a beta. Apple itself did change some of the stuff on the control Center pages during the previous betas. It sucks to see pages removed or reset but it’s like it is with a beta.

Yeah it’s something subjective, but I would say it isn’t normal that my phone gets „hot“ when using the camera for one picture or playing a game for about 10-15min, when this game isn’t graphic intensive game (Clash Royale)

Ok but for one more or less quick picture, I highly doubt that the phone really gets hot in such a short time.
Gaming especially might be different, for sure there isn’t any kind of optimisation for far for iOS 18 and/or a bug with this new game mode on the phone.
