Ok thanks. Is there 5G standalone toggle on Vodafone? (I know some reported it being there a couple betas back)
Yes, it's there, but tbh, didn't see any difference at all... My understanding is the SA will improve pings and increase upload speed, however, it's still around 50ms and under 10 meg....

Three which isn't SA is actually faster where I am 12 ms, around 700 mb download and 50+ upload speed.

This really has to be one of the worst UI's Apple have put out to date.

Having the small and large on the on the top laid out as tabs implies it is the content below them which is changing, not the size of apps.

And then you've got a sun hidden in the corner, no indication of what it actually does.

Who designs this stuff?

SA has been hyped up too much.

In my experience with Vodafone SA using it on my Samsung S24U, it’s slower than NSA by a fair bit. Presumably because they're splitting their 5G spectrum between NSA and SA with less allocated to SA.

Maybe as they enable more lines and handsets that will change?

Ping isn’t better, many times I’ve switched to NSA and had better ping.

At least with the iPhone people can switch off SA until it improves.

Which iPhone? As am not seeing it on my test iPhone 12 when I put my Vodafone sim in it

It seems to only be available on the IPhone 15 series and is only available to plans taken after a certain date with certain handsets.

“To get 5G Ultra, you'll need a 5G Ultra-enabled device, any Pay monthly plan bought from 24 February 2023 onwards, and to be in an area covered by our 5G Ultra network”

Vodafone don’t officially support iPhone so if you call up and ask for it to be enabled for an iPhone they’ll say no even if you took your plan after the correct date (if you can get through to someone who actually knows what SA is…)

Someone on another forum had the right handset and plan taken after the above date but because they don’t live in a SA area CS declined to enable it despite working in one.

Just to make things clear as I've probably misunderstood something crucial here.
Are most people running the iOS 18 beta available through Public Beta?

I might did something stupid when I downloaded the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta.

People on this thread are talking about 18.0 which is expected to release sooner than 18.1

18.1 is only on it’s second beta and will release later, it includes Apple Intelligence in certain areas.

Thanks, I can see it’s already enabled on my plan I can see it as an extra.

If I was to call customer service I would call it 5G ultra just to save me a headache of getting them to understand what am on about lol

most of time I find it depends who you get when you phone customer services of most networks to how helpful they are lol

over 5G NSA am able to 500 - 650 mbps down and anywhere 20mbps and above for upload

Ohhh. Not good. Only way to restore is a complete reset?

I’ve never done it myself so not sure how well it would work. I usually keep an archived backup of the latest version on my Mac if I install a beta on my daily phone.

There’s a guide here which you could try:

You can back up pictures and some other bits like WhatsApp to iCloud separately.

Some of them don’t know what 5G Ultra is either! I had to send the person their own weblink which still prompted them to trouble shoot me not having 5G at all 😅

On NSA around here I get around 300Mbps indoors, on SA I get about 200Mbps which still isn’t bad but not the gigabit dream we were sold!

I have FTTP of 1.6Gbps so not too bothered about my home location.

I usually download the betas on my daily drivers. In the last years. This year I wasn’t sure and I still haven’t tried the betas. What would you say? Can I use it on the 13 Pro Max or should I still wait?

I have been running iOS 18 betas from DB2 onwards on my main devices with no major issues, the only hiccup being excessive battery use on earlier betas. Seems to be fine by now.

Sadly the bug persists, where I don’t use the music app for about a day, and then my playlists i created are gone, without my permission they are just gone/deleted.
Does anyone else experience this behavior?
If yes, please file a feedback to Apple - here is the feedback ID : FB14808922

There are a few interesting small changes with the latest beta. If you click on a contact in the call history screen it immediately redials them rather than going to a contact page. Dark icons now have less of a gradient to them and seem to be 'blacker'.

Recalling with one click was always like this, they changed it in the last betas, but, don’t know why, reverted it again 🙈

It was so much better to call with that „phone symbol“!
And all the other space will just bring up contact information!
No missdials anymore - was hoping that they change it back to this nice new design, instead of that, they kept it but hidden behind the search function - unnecessary one step more before you can call someone, if you don’t like the old design 😒😑
