Curious how the stability is on the mini. I have a 13 mini as well and was thinking about finally dipping in, but concerned about impact to battery/heat.
When running beta 6 on the mini I didn’t notice any real change from running iOS 17. Seems to be just as fast and battery seemed normal.

In saying that though, I bet iOS 17 runs a lot better and is more bug free. I bet for that reason it would have better battery life. I’m not sure iOS 18 is a better OS to be honest - it’s ’fine’ but I wouldn’t jump in just yet if battery is your number 1 concern.

Here’s a random question I’ve been thinking about. Does anyone hold back a month or so before upgrading to an #.0 iOS release, just to ensure less bugs?

Like if a user waited like 2 or 3 months to upgrade to iOS 18.2, would they receive any security updates for iOS 17 whilst they wait?

¿Alguien puede confirmar si el botón de llamada está nuevamente en la aplicación Teléfono, Recientes?
We must inform Apple of this error. Because now, as things stand, we can accidentally make calls.

This is new

If this is the last beta.. then invites should coming out this week. Event and RC build on September 3rd. iPhone preorders on September 6. iOS 18 release date of sept 11. iPhone release date of sept 13.

I hope this isn’t the case as September 11 isn’t a good day… and Friday the 13th sounds like bad luck.

Hi, just downloaded iOS 18 public beta 5 on my 15 Plus and I have two questions.

1) In storage, all my icons are “dark mode”. I don’t like it and I haven’t enabled this anywhere. Is this normal? Please see pic.

2) When I activate Siri, I’m not getting the colorful animation around the screen, it’s still the Siri Circle at the bottom. Do you have to activate this somewhere?

Thanks!

I ran the update on both a 13 mini and a 15 pro max. Was 1.4GB on the former and 330MB on the latter. Exact same software and OS was on both (beta 6).

The update is wildly differing in size on different phones.
Wouldn't say they are the "exact same software" as the 15 ProMax and 13 mini are vastly different pieces of hardware and capabilities.

1) Yes. Looks like they continue to overlook this inconsistency.
2) That’s part of the 18.1 beta and only for the 15 Pro, not Plus.

Good to hear it's reasonably stable. Honestly I'm more interested in Watch OS 11 - really looking forward to having maps for workouts, vitals, auto sleep detection. Need to move to iOS 18 to use it though.

I think the icons are supposed to be dark because you are in dark mode.
