Translation: the largest buggier iOS version. And dropping iPhone 12 and older.

I'm scared RCS isn't going to come to non iOS 18 devices. There's a little hobbyist community, myself included, that have dumbed down our smartphones and use the iPhone SE 1 (shape of iPhone 5, from 2017). It actually works really well. But not getting RCS when everyone else has it may be the killer of it.

GIVE ME A MONTH VIEW
Right?! Or how about bringing back color coded indicators on the calendar view. A single grey dot only tells me something is scheduled, not what category that appt is. Birthdays are the same color as Dr appts. How is that useful?

Use busycal. It will blow you away.

My iPhone Calendar app has a month view. Maybe someone at the Apple Store can help you out.
The month view doesn't show what is scheduled in that month, only the selected day. Also the grey dots don't convey any info other than you something (possibly multiple things) scheduled. Thats useless if you have a full schedule, and mostly useless if you want to know when your next doctor appt is relative to a holiday or travel day. Also, vertical lines would be a nice touch. Also a view where one month transitions into the next so you can see scheduled items that span the end of the month. These are basic calendar app features that have been missing for a long time.

Maybe it's better to wait for the 18 pro. The next one will always be better!
This is true… but always watch out for big jumps in RAM and certain SoC advancements. It pays dividends to buy nice by paying attention to what spec bumps are made in each iteration.

Certain ios devices have had a far longer support history than others… and mostly its about the RAM.

No thanks. I want apple to fix what they broke. Also I want it to integrate with the calendar app on my iPad and computer. I'm not a "business" person. I don't work in an office, I work in the film industry. We are like circus folk. Nomadic. So it's not something I need really badly, but would enjoy it if apple fixed it and made it work like ical did years ago. Also, 3rd party apps tend to steal data and display ads which I am morally against.

Smarter Siri...
when you ask Siri "Siri, what are you good for?" after several fail intents of doing something she says "do you want to shut down the iPhone?"

I dont know anyone using Siri beyond saying the weather or setting a timer . Hope they didnt spend too much developing her...

Mine does. And it's very useful.
It only shows the events of the selected day. Also, the grey dots are useless at conveying anything other than that an event exists. Could easily be color coded like it was in ical. It's UI was ruined in ios7 update and has never recovered.

Nope. Mine does much more. And is very useful.

Seems you need some assistance.

Well you know Apple it’s going to require you to buy a new device. Per usual.
I’m hoping Apple will include every device with a neural engine. That should take care of a lot of people. It is the reason I sold my 10.5 inch iPad. I could see that the neural engine was going to be important.

Nuke the whole Settings app and rework it from scratch. Right now they just keep throwing more and more settings into places that don’t make sense anymore because it’s basically 10+ years old.

Do something with the Messages app besides stickers.

Also do something with the Home Screen, I don’t know what exactly but something different
But what does it actually mean to rebuild the Settings app from scratch? There are a large amount of settings and I feel that no matter how you organize them it isn't going to always make sense. The only thing they can do to fix that is remove them which isn't really a real solution. I think it would be ideal if they would fix the search to actually bring you to the setting you want more easily.

Doesn’t sound like much of an upgrade to me if those are the headlining features. How about fixing the keyboard first… when I try to edit my comment here and I tap in between words, half the time it inserts the text cursor and the other half it selects an entire word. So frustrating.
They screwed up how the cursor worked about 5 versions of iOS ago. I remember updating and immediately noticing how it was worse. They were marketing the change as an improvement at the time, and unfortunately it stuck around. Really wish it worked like it did back in the day.

The only thing they can do to fix that is remove them which isn't really a real solution. Examples:

Why is Hide My Mail hidden in like 5 sub menus and not part of „Mail“. I doubt anyone I know even knows this functionality exists.

Why can you set up contact photos in „contacts“ but also in the messages menu and why do you change your circle photo in the settings of the contact poster? Took me forever to figure out how I can change my iCloud photo now.

Why are app limitations like not allowing to make iCloud changes in something called „Screen Time“. It has nothing to do with how much time is spent on the „screen“ when I restrict access to certain parts of the OS

Why does „passwords“ have a search plus the small ABC thingy on the side but the list of hidden emails doesn’t even though the menu looks almost the same.

Why can I easily mass select all photos with a swipe gesture in the photos app but cant select multiple photo attachments in messages with a swipe

List goes on and on

Smarter Siri? I’m gonna laugh now. That’s the rest of the teachers at school I’m glad I’m updating this year my iPad

While I understand all the Siri hate on here people should be aware that Apple recently published one of the best multi-modal models out there. So it could be a super significant upgrade, particularly given that Siri could have access to literally every line of code in iOS along with every other Apple app. So the potential for deep integration/automation is significant.
I truly hope you are right. I am a big Siri fan, even though I have experienced all the problems other people have had with it. I’m just so old enough That she still fascinates me. And is usually helpful.

RCS and improved Siri are going to be significant changes, but I really wish they would add a number row to the keyboard. I know that will probably never, ever happen...

I wonder if they ever will at this point. I think the iOS 7 "look" and color choices have become so "iconic" that there may be no changing it.
I think so too, especially since they're introducing a whole new product with that interface so they wouldn't up and change the way its software looks a few months after releasing it. But I feel the look was iconic to the original iPhone's success.

funniest rumour ever, Apple never had big updates in recent years, neither software nor hardware

I think the complaining about SIRI is silly.the experiences many people want is for a totally intrusive 'intelligent' assistant that reads your email, and basically has access to your entire life. And that's available on the 'Google' Phone. The more intrusive you want your 'assistant' the more it will spill out when the bugs are exploited. I'm not exactly sure of anything one thing that some other voice 'assistant' does that makes life that much better, easier. It's mainly pretty dumb stuff.

I need no assistance. It works just as I described. Are you sure you are using apple's calendar app and not a 3rd party one? I've been using it since the original iPhone and I know exactly what it can and can't do. Maybe you are thinking about the list view and not the month view. The list view does show upcoming events but not the whole month at a glance and only when you select a day with events scheduled and only that day. Not exactly information at a glance. It's a poorly designed UI. Good UI's are intuitive and convey relevant information at a glance. This does not do that. Since awful ios7 redesign it has been one of my least used apps because of its poor design.
