please for the love of god take the camera shortcut off the lockscreen / or at very least let us disable it without having to root the phone.

This has been a point of contention for so long that it’s starting to look like a clandestine vector of entry for law enforcement. With the advent of Face ID it’s completely redundant in any other context.

I’m hoping for a new interface. iOS looks incredibly boring and the app icons are still as flat and uninspiring as 10 years ago. With all that power under the hood I want it be much more vibrating.

My only complaint is that Siri has no brain. APPLE needs to work on creating a brain for Siri. 12 years I’ve been with Siri and she still doesn’t understand me, as in the words I’m saying.

iPhone, iPad and miniHomepod are in the living room and when I say Hey Siri it triggers all devices. I wish I could address one at a time.

Even if change the iPhone and iPad to just “Siri” and HomePod to “Hey Siri” it still triggers two devices when I say “Siri”

Nuke the whole Settings app and rework it from scratch. Right now they just keep throwing more and more settings into places that don’t make sense anymore because it’s basically 10+ years old.

Do something with the Messages app besides stickers.

Also do something with the Home Screen, I don’t know what exactly but something different

Any chance of putting Lock Screen notifications back to the top so that sleeve users can peek without fully removing the phone? Or restoring the original text input field so that the magnifying lens magnifies?

You know, just generally fixing the stuff that was deliberately broken.

I doubt it personally, they seem to have most of their devs working on the Vision Pro and rewriting old code for the EU. No time for actual useful features!

Whenever we need a good laugh, we just ask Siri a question. The answer is always laugh-worthy!

I don’t understand why Apple isn’t highlighting that feature in their marketing. They’re way ahead of the competition here.

Meh on both. Could care less about the texting experience of green bubbles and I very rarely use siri.

I think you'll find that both will be subtly improved enough that you won't mind the improvements and might even give Siri another shot.

That's what I hope anyway. Maybe I'm a fool to still have hope for Siri.

I used to be excited about these updates, but now I get nervous.

My first thought is what devices are they dropping support for next? I mean Apple is the best when it comes to updating old OSes, I mean they had an update for IOS 12 last year. But still it essentially means those devices are still being left behind. It would help if Apple clearly laid out what support they will over devices over time like other manufacturers do. I don't care about new features on old devices, security is what's important to me.

Then it's just more bloat and unnecessary crap being tacked on to the new OSes. I don't need a dedicated journaling app. again Apple is different from other manufacturers (looking at you Samsung) that they let us remove these apps.

I just wish Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc. all these software companies take a break from constantly putting out new releases. We don't need a major update every damn year. Focus on security, bug fixes and performance improvements. This is ridiculous. This is endemic across the tech industry, where you have a culture of constantly wanting to push out new code and releases, regardless if it's good or bad for the end users. For example, You have banking websites where they change the entire UI for no reason one day and you're spending time dealing with weird jankiness when you're just trying to pay your bills.

I forget where I read it but it makes sense if you think about it like this: These companies are so big now that they make more money from stock movements caused by announcing new features than they do from actually doing anything. Certainly when it comes to software. Wall Street and management like new looks and new coats of paint, they don't like people "wasting time" on stuff that has already shipped.

Wonder when the next UI update will be. Adding a bit of dimension back to the interface would be nice. It’s been 10 years! Can’t believe iOS 7 was that long ago.

RCS is nice, don’t really care though, the few Android people I text just share stuff through WhatsApp anyways and I doubt that will really change. Reliability improvements and a bug-fix oriented release would be nice.

RCS will be a huge improvement in the US. WhatsApp isn’t a thing here and half the people I know are android. Getting tired of having to use Facebook messenger to send photos and videos and half the time the files are too big to send via that anyways
