Brrr still no new beta. Only for tv OS and HomePod.
Tim I thought you’re our man but were disappointed. Please let us alone.

Since Friday isn’t normally in play but we still have Thursday we’ll go with………

My new iPhone 16 Pro Max failed to download 18.1b5 "error download failed" just at the end of the download progress bar, although my 15 Pro Max was fine doing the same. Tried multiple times and same error. Any tips or ideas?

Who is up for a little midnight madness?

Since Tim is working late trying to figure out what went wrong with the Apple Watch beta, maybe he can drop 18.1 beta 6 tonight?

Also this is the company that spends about $10 million a day on R&D 🤣
I don’t understand the complaints. It’s literally a beta and a beta is there for finding such errors.

Apple just should stop doing public betas imo. I feel like most people don’t know the reason why they release betas and complain in forums when something doesn’t work like they’re using a final.

Yeah, because shrinking the pool of beta testers will totally help with software quality…

What is going on with Apple? First the M4 iPads, then the HomePod last week, now the Apple Watch. 🫨

Maybe them taking more time with the new beta is okay, especially given how rushed the previous one felt (when it comes to quality and also a Monday release?).

But, yeah, seems like the teams are struggling a bit at the moment.

I've never had this feeling before that Apple is incapable of doing something. They have several very important fronts, which they are not able to solve effectively. Because iOS 18.1 is not just a beta, it is the reason for the sale of the iPhone 16 and something must be happening internally for us not to have seen any beta of the systems that will have AI. Not to mention the disaster of the iPads with M4.

Yeah I agree. I’m already looking forward to iOS 19 when they have solid basis for all the AI stuff. They’re currently lacking of it and trying to catch up with iOS 18.

On the other side, iOS 18 is one of most stable releases I’ve seen for many years. This indicates that they’re overwhelmed with AI.

What worries me the most is that perhaps the AI stuff has taken quite a lot of the engineering resources – so we are seeing issues and loss of focus on the more important / critical areas, while the team is focusing on the AI stuff that will drive sales, but is not actually that important / useful for a huge amount of users.

Man, the AI stuff that is present in the current .1 betas is lackluster and pretty boring. The .2 must be a hell of a release now that I think of it, however, the only thing that could get maybe the public excited is the Genmoji and Image generation stuff + the new Siri capabilities, but they wont be available till late spring 2025...
