Someone had mentioned in the beta thread that it is related to the Dictionary. Head to Settings>General>Dictionary and it will redownload it. I haven't experienced it since then.
Interesting. I just went ahead and toggled all my dictionaries I had enabled to off and then toggled them back on and it did redownload them. I hope this fixes it. Thanks for letting me know.

Now I need a new phone!

Thanks Tim!

They need to fire whoever is team lead on these latest betas.
Given that you have zero idea whether the next beta is actually delayed (versus you thinking it's delayed because it didn't come out when you wanted it to), doesn't that seem a bit harsh? I get enthusiasm, but wishing an employee ill because they didn't meet your expectations is a bit over the top.

I will say the stability and polish of iOS 18.0 has been far above previous years IMO. So if there is one year to go awhile without fixes, this would be it. Perhaps it was intentional as well.
That’s a thoughtful angle on the whole thing. I can accept they’re taking time with the updates if it’s really to assure quality first!

I wonder two possibilities:

1. Apple is going to surprise us with genmoji in 18.1 instead of 18.2. The UI elements already seem to be in place so maybe this will help spur iPhone 16 sales. The betas that have been released this week are all the non- AI ones as some else pointed out earlier in the thread.

2. The new October products will be a press release rather than an event (unlikely I know, but still...) and they are preparing the RC instead with all the goodies for the new machines for announcement next week. After all, gotta boost those sales numbers for the usually best quarter of the year and if iPhones sales aren't cutting it then the sooner the Macs come out the better the sales numbers will be...

However, I suspect there are just some troubling issues that they are trying to nail down and they want to avoid bad press even on the betas.

If we use the iPhone 16 example, the build that shipped with new phones was slightly different then July 28 beta 8 18.0 which means it could have been selected a week to almost 2 weeks before it went to the devs.

IMHO the delays are more likely related to the issues with M4 iPad installing being interrupted is likely causing increased QA with 18.1 iPadOS beta 6 and they are also carefully screening the other likely MacOS beta 6 candidates for future M4 usage for the 2nd half of October.
