There is a slim chance that we see beta 5 Monday.
Really slim. If it weren’t for Apple Intelligence I’d say zero. Because Apple Intelligence is involved, I’d say 10%.

So from “There will not be a beta 5, I am reasonably certain. RC the week of 12/2.” to 10% 😁Really slim. If it weren’t for Apple Intelligence I’d say zero. Because Apple Intelligence is involved, I’d say 10%.
They do specifically have it mentioned against App developer submissionsThey haven’t released anything during Thanksgiving week in years (if ever). I don’t expect that to change.
So perhaps we will get a new beta next week! 👍🏻They do specifically have it mentioned against App developer submissions
==========
Submissions now accepted through the holidays
November 8, 2021
This year, we’re pleased to continue accepting submissions in App Store Connect throughout the upcoming holidays. Make sure your apps are up to date and ready for the busiest season on the App Store. Due to anticipated high volume, plan to send time-sensitive submissions early. Please note that reviews may take longer to complete from November 24 to 28 and December 23 to 27.

That sounds like they still have a pronounced reduction of staffing for that time period, but not a complete absence of staff to support something happening. Seeding it not likely high on their list during those times.
But you do make interesting discussion point going back many years if there has been rare exceptions.![]()
I think it's more likely to be teams spread over many countries, along with a bit of home working.Limited history examples using MacOS seed vs Darwin Kernal

We so need an iOS 19 Speculation Thread…
Anyways, I just saw this land yesterday:

iOS 19 Rumors: More ChatGPT-Like Siri, Some New Features 'Postponed'
iOS 19 is not expected to be announced until June 2025, but the software update's first major new feature has already leaked. In his Power On...www.macrumors.com
How is this relevant to iOS 18 speculation? Well, I think iOS 18 is laying the groundwork for major AI improvements, and this new Siri will be more of a product of the groundwork being layed in iOS 18 than brand new work in iOS 19. I think we’re already going to start to see Siri act more like ChatGPT in iOS 18.
Also, I think the delayed release of more features than usual could be a sign that iOS 19 may include some major new features. It could be a really impressive update. Usually Apple doesn’t have to postpone features that far back unless they’re major updates that require more work to implement and sort out. So excited for future iOS 18 versions, and iOS 19 versions, wink, wink…
Really guys, we need an iOS 19 Speculation Thread, I have so much I want to say about iOS 19!!!![]()
Apple prepares a Siri overhaul for the ChatGPT era, but it’s not coming until 2026. Since announcing its AI platform in June, Apple has promised a more powerful Siri — something that’s long overdue. For years, the company’s voice assistant has failed to properly respond to questions and commands from users. And, at the end of 2022, it was leapfrogged by OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
But the first version of Apple Intelligence — the one available today — mostly just makes cosmetic changes to Siri. It adds a new interface (the glow around the screen) and the ability to type in requests rather than using your voice. There’s also more in-depth knowledge about Apple products, and Siri can better deal with pauses when hearing commands. Over the next several months, Apple will add more precise control of third-party apps via the new App Intents software, as well as the ability to tap into users’ data and the context from what’s currently on their screen.
The bigger picture: Apple is introducing more of its technology in a staggered way, rather than in one large annual refresh. The company is planning a big upgrade this spring with the release of iOS 18.4, but some new capabilities once expected for later in the year are already getting pushed back. I’m told that a larger-than-usual number of features scheduled for iOS 19 (beyond the new Siri) are already postponed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 debuts).
Yay!!! I’ve heard some early rumors that at least iPadOS 19 (not sure if iOS 19 will support this as well or not) will gain the ability to readily pin things like files, folders, photos, etc. to the Home Screen. I think this makes a lot of sense, as it seems that Apple is working towards unifying the Home Screen experience on iPadOS/iOS and the Desktop experience on macOS. First you had the inclusion of desktop widgets in macOS Sonoma, and this year you have greater control of app and widget positioning on the iPadOS and iOS Home Screen. And it already is possible to pin such items to the Home Screen on iPadOS and iOS with Siri Shortcuts. I even created a pack of icons that match the aesthetic of the ones in the Files app for different file types (for any interested in those, they can be found here: https://github.com/KalCadle/iPadOS-Home-Screen-Folders-Files-Icons). So making it easier to do so as a system feature (likely from the Share Sheet similar to “Add to Home Screen” for webpages in Safari) would make a lot of sense. I wonder if Home Screen widgets will also be visible when using Stage Manager in iPadOS 19. I’m really excited about iPadOS 19, while we don’t have many leaks/rumors yet, it seems very promising if several features will have to be released delayed. I believe iPadOS is just about perfect at this point, and seems to be steadily converging with macOS. I don’t believe iPadOS and macOS will ever merge, I believe they’ll remain separate and distinct OSes with the proper UI optimizations etc. for their respective hardware sets, but I do believe that they’ll both share a similar feature set and app ecosystem. It’s ok to post some iOS 19 stuff in here. It’s really just the “Speculation of all Sorts” thread. The “formal” iOS speculation thread for the next full release usually gets started in February or March (2-3 months ahead of WWDC). If you really think there’s enough to justify starting it now, I would personally have no objection to having one started now. But if it doesn’t get any traffic, don’t expect it to get pinned by the mods and in that case it may simply disappear.

Thanks for sharing that, I thought it was interesting. I read it, and I have mixed feelings about it. I agree with some things, but I also disagree with some of the motives he assigns to Apple. I don’t think Apple thinks of it the way he describes. I think Apple is cautious about opening sideloading on iOS due to several factors. One is that iOS was never designed to support app sideloading. Sure, obviously this functionality can be added, but macOS has several system-level baked in features to locally scan such software for threats as well, which iOS lacks. A rushed inclusion of sideloading to comply with these legislations can cause some cracks to be opened up in the system that malware could exploit. I think Apple genuinely views the inclusion of sideloading as a security threat for users, I don’t think they’re trying to control what apps are available and such as the author implies. This is a interesting read on how the iOS/iPadOS App Store divulges so much from MacOS by Jason Snell

0% for RC. 10% beta 5 according to @gwhizkids and me. 😁What are the odds we’ll see iOS 18.2 RC seeded tomorrow?
Mmm… if that’s the case, the final release won’t drop until the 9th, not the 2nd of December.0% for RC. 10% beta 5 according to @gwhizkids and me. 😁
Tim is in China, if they let him out we will have beta 5 if he remembers the button he must press!!I guess it's up to Tim depending on the work situation/goals. Most USA companies don't have the week off, only Thanksgiving on Thursday and the Friday (aka Black Friday - retail). Seems like the Monday or Tuesday seeds are just released after they are completed the previous week by Apple. No one thinks they have them finalized minutes before the usual 10 AM PST time point. Although some days we do suspect things are not all prefect when we see things running late.![]()
I am convinced that we will have beta 5 or an RC, by the time its launch arrives everything is readySo from “There will not be a beta 5, I am reasonably certain. RC the week of 12/2.” to 10% 😁
I’m just sayin with Apple AI they want to get it out asap bug free. I agree 10%. But there is a chance.
Unfortunately US holiday Thursday. So no beta / RC Wednesday. Hopefully beta / RC drops today or tomorrow.Although being a little more realistic the last beta was launched on Wednesday, so if there is no beta today, Wednesday is when they launch beta or RC, this is a speculation![]()
