It could be. We’ll see. But I think they’ve likely been spending months vetting 18.4 Beta 1 thoroughly. I don’t think they need an “extra day”. Again, we’ll see if 18.4 beta 1 drops today or later, but I think the “they want/need an extra day to thoroughly vet 18.4” isn’t a very compelling argument to me because they’ve almost certainly been working on this update for months and are probably already working on 18.5 as we speak.
Yes very aware of the multiple betas in development for months, just like most software is developed. Same for iOS 19 months towards its first showing. Also Apple doesn’t stall unless they find something really.

If it’s true that iOS 18.4 is coming in April, part of me is wondering if we will have to wait a little longer for beta 1. Because that’s later than usual for the spring release.

The update of iOS 18 in general? I will have to disagree with that. iOS 18 was a very minor update. Now if you are talking about iOS 18 in regards to Apple intelligences, maybe right up there. But iOS 18 at it's core really didn't change much.
Well you said that 18.4 would be a bigger update.... 18.4 is a subset of 18... so how could it be a bigger update?

The initial releases of iOS 18. I think most people here understood what I was saying. The features released to date in iOS 18 have been massively less exciting than 18.4 will be. So yes, iOS 18 as a whole will be an amazing update in the history books, but not really what we have been given so far. Not bad, just not super exciting. Everyone has been waiting for 18.4 since WWDC. This is the key update for iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence.

This could be the reason iOS 18.4 b1 isn’t out yet.

Possible but not likely, I think, given the article.

I think it’s just because Apple sometimes programs in gaps for whatever reason. Maybe it’s to allow for possible additional release candidates for the preceding release. Maybe it’s to time it out at the end to coincide with a hardware launch. We just don’t know.

But they know, and I’m sure they are exactly where they expect to be on their schedule.
