No, I’m pretty sure he originally just said mid this week, and just started changing his tune to save face.
I don’t understand why Apple is dragging this out so long. What are we going to have, like 4 little betas to try to work the bugs out of this update? Hopefully it drops early next week. It just feels like we’re burning valuable beta testing time…
It is better they hold on to it a little longer than to release something that isn't yet ready for prime time.
That’s not what he said. He said 18.4 beta between the middle of this week and early next week. He was initially wrong about the SE, I’ll give you that, but he clarified on Tuesday that it would be next week.
Where in his original thing did he say middle of this week to early next week for the 18.4 beta? I’m pretty sure that’s something he recently started to say to save face, but even if not, clearly middle of this week shouldn’t have been part of his prediction if he was actually accurate. He could have very easily just said next week to begin with if he wasn’t just guessing off the top of his head… 🤷🏼♂️
It seems kinda insane what’s left. Friday is rare, Monday is a holiday, Tuesday is possible, then they could on Wednesday for event.
Yeah, I was pretty sure it should be this week since next week has a holiday and a product announcement. Maybe there’s a chance for Friday tomorrow, but I’m thinking at this point it’s more likely for some time next week. Maybe Apple wants to be our Valentine by giving us 18.4 Beta 1 on Valentine’s Day?… 🤔😂
Somebody brought it to my attention that I am now twitching uncontrollably, I believe the side-effects of beta withdrawal are well underway. I also just started chomping at the air like a zombie. Apple, please give us an iOS 18.4 beta before the sickness consumes me! 😂🤣
Not sure what original thing of Gurman you are referring to, above is a post from this thread included with one of his tweets. Saying he’s wrong at this point would be a faulty claim wouldn’t it?
Keep saying and finding thin arguments everyday that ”today” must be the right day for release isn’t cutting it really either in my book, wouldn’t even classify this as speculation. Granted that a lot of us in here really want Apple to get their fat bum of the sofa and just press the button. Where is it defined that 8 betas is a full cycle, don’t get this, is this an unofficial thing? From where I’m standing Apple is not ready to release b1 yet, probably for very good reasons, and think their number one focus is to get it right! To drop a b1 which does not measure up to set criteria’s would be a very bad call at this point. One can probably draw a conclusion that they have a few challenges to be sorted, and the last thing is probably to withhold ”on purpose”. They will drop it when they’re ready and we will probably be grateful at that point not having a totally buggy beta to play with (me wishing)…

Ok, and he was wrong because middle of this week was not part of the equation. Also, pretty much anyone here could be fairly safe in saying something so nebulous…. I think this right here is exhibit A that the guy is just guessing at this point. And almost always he gets timing on these things off anymore. To say it just like Mark Gurman would, Apple may probably likely sort of release iOS 19 (or a software of another name) between February of 2025 and December of 2027…
Well definitely a point with that. But still better speculation compared to some in here lately. Including me btw.
I mean his track record is actually solid, if you look at each rumor he's reported. I've been on here since 2012, he usually gets it right.
What he penned is accurate, we are only a few days from the next week. Just not Monday thats a holiday.
Enough on Gurman, Tim might as well have it Wednesday lot more visibility
What if the reason for us not seeing the 18.4 b1 is…. Apple Intelligence became self aware and killed all devs there? 😂
I give up speculating on this one.... At this point I just think it will come out Wednesday along with the product announcement.
