Quite unlikely, given how it’s been performing with the features available to end-users.What if the reason for us not seeing the 18.4 b1 is…. Apple Intelligence became self aware and killed all devs there? 😂
At this point I would believe anything lol... you could tell me nothing till iOS 19 in June and it would make sense.See you in 2 weeks guys 👋👋👋
A few years ago I would have agreed with you. But ever since a bit before iOS 17 was announced, his “predictions” have often been wrong, and are now phrased so nebulously so that they’re technically “accurate”, but are also either so incredibly vague or non-committal that many could guess about as accurately. It reads something like “I’ve heard from reliable sources that Apple will likely announce a new version of iOS likely called iOS 19 between the months of May and July of the year 2025, and it will likely run on new iPhones announced later in the fall.” It’s just extremely non-committal, probably because he doesn’t want it to impact his credibility so if he just makes his predictions very nebulous then it is more likely to be correct. If I recall correctly, he got the Mac event that introduced the M3 MacBook Pro off by about a month… And as I have pointed out before, this is probably not all his fault in all fairness to him, because Apple seems to have upped their game in stopping leaks and catching leakers. Before that period when Gurman’s accuracy started it’s decline also coincided with several leakers getting outed and removed by Apple. So he likely has lost some of the leakers he relied on before. Paired with Apple seeming to really up their game at stopping leaks, it’s probably a bit harder for Gurman to get reliable leaks, especially since Apple is known to share misdirects with employees that don’t need to know real release dates, product details, etc. to weed out leakers. So it’s not likely all his fault, but I have definitely noticed a difference between his pre iOS 17 predictions and his post iOS 17 predictions and there accuracy and wording…I mean his track record is actually solid, if you look at each rumor he's reported. I've been on here since 2012, he usually gets it right.
That’s what they want you to see. 😂Quite unlikely, given how it’s been performing with the features available to end-users.
Way to state the obvious in a thread called "iOS 18 Speculation Thread". Obviously most of us know that, and are ok with taking the risk.I don’t get what this massive anticipation and excitement for Beta 1 is. It’s not like it’s the RC or final version of 18.4 which I would be extremely excited for as well. It’s just Beta 1 which will be full of bugs and definitely not ready to be used as a daily driver
It’s not about taking a “risk”. What is it your so excited about to see in Beta 1? It will start dropping new stuff, usually beta 1's have significant portion of the stuff that gets refined over the next few iterations while more features are also included. I enjoy testing the new features while also seeing the evolutions throughout the betas, and I'm sure many folks here are the same. It’s not about taking a “risk”. Beta 1 always garners the most anticipation and excitement, because nobody knows what new features will be added.... All subsequent betas and the RC will just be small fixes and tweaks to beta 1 but for the most part nothing new or major, hence much less exciting... People in this thread who are following betas are not so much worried about bugs as the general public would be. Hope that helpsI don’t get what this massive anticipation and excitement for Beta 1 is. It’s not like it’s the RC or final version of 18.4 which I would be extremely excited for as well. I don't think that has ever happenedEverybody down for a Friday release? Apple show us the love for Valentines Day
Absolutely. Gurman is only accurate the day before an event when he gets last minute info. The most annoying part is when he says something is about to happen and then comes back a couple weeks later and says it is delayed rather than admit he got the timetable wrong.his “predictions” have often been wrong, and are now phrased so nebulously so that they’re technically “accurate”, but are also either so incredibly vague or non-committal that many could guess about as accurately.

And this is why you don't release a new product where the major selling point is future software updates.
Well, look at the bright side, they may be able to leverage the same software update for a second lackluster hardware product! And this is why you don't release a new product where the major selling point is future software updates.
Good thing there were also lots of other great hardware improvements that were also major selling points... 👍🏻And this is why you don't release a new product where the major selling point is future software updates.
