It looks the AI is still locked on CN variants, just like the good old note in XCode “all except the CN sku”.

Came back after completed download of the intelligence files.
Can set region to “Deutschland” but have to keep iPhone language EN US.
Changing Siri language to German works but says it doesn’t… but playground stops working.
Ok, seems that is why we test the beta…
Biggest Plus already, I can finally use my EU iTunes library again
Strange, I have set everything to German and still can use AI without problems
I’ve been playing with the new beta, and here’s the new features I’ve discovered so far (some of these features are ones I found first hand, others I’ve read about):
- New Control Center toggles including Ambient Music toggles and improved Cellular toggle
- New Sketch style in Image Playground
- New Genmoji button
- New Prioritize Notifications option
- Mail categorization now available on iPad
- New “Connection Security Details” page action in Safari
- New translation app category in Default Apps
- Vision Pro app
- New “Open Conversation” Siri Shortcut Action for Messages
- And of course, additional Apple Intelligence language support
It might be because the OS language can't be different from the language chosen for Siri.
I hope I'm wrong because I like to keep my iPhone in English and have Siri in Italian 🥲
No such problems here. Region is set to Germany and also language is set to German. Everything works as expected, also Image Playground.
Maybe it’s related to the issue listed in the release notes
- For languages other than English (US), Apple Intelligence support requires Siri to be enabled. (144092696)
Workaround: Enable "Talk & Type to Siri" to enable Apple Intelligence features. For "Talk to Siri", one of the following options must be selected: "'Hey Siri'", "'Siri' or 'Hey Siri'" or "Press Side Button for Siri".
Two things definitely aren’t working without an US AppStore ID:
- iPhone mirroring and
- Call Recording
What seems still odd to me.
tested again on the Mac mini - first similar errors (not available in DE) but after patient waiting to load all AI modules it works perfect, Region DE, Mac Language DE and Sire Language DE
only posted here to inform that something is still weird .. on the iPhone it even didn't start to load the DE models (at least no indications of it)
To connect to the much expected beta which to no surprise is buggy. Let’s see how much better b2 is in ca 2 weeks.
to be honest I prefer Siri in English with region US - so I have best of both worlds, means I still have my News+ working here in DE and my DE/EU iTunes library can be used again ... finally
I've noticed two minor changes as well, I don't know if they were there before, but I don't remember seeing them in 18.3.1.
- In the modes toggle in the control center, I see some up and down arrows next to the name of the focus mode.
- In the deleted album in the photos app, in hidden and shared albums I've also seen it, now below the name there's a counter with the number of items there. If I press the i next to it, it shows the same text that was previously always visible at the bottom, and now it's not.

So how’s beta 1 so far? I’m super excited to hear that these of us with iPhone 15 Pro’s will get Visual Intelligence in the final version of 18.4
So far iPadOS 18.4 beta 1 is running very smooth on my iPad. I haven’t run into any bugs yet. I am not beta testing iOS on my iPhone, but it should be pretty similar.
That page has said “coming months” since September.

Also, if Apple is saying new languages will arrive in April, they would also say new Siri capabilities are coming in April too.
any words about opening iPhone mirroring to EU? After implementing languages and opening AI to Eu this should/could e the next logical step? What do you think?
