iOS 18 Speculation Thread

Cause I’m not going to waste my time arguing over stupid stuff. Clearly this thread has slowed down 🙄.
It was normally slower until the flood of Siri delay complaints and debates. Once the initial big features of an iOS version have come (which they have with 18), speculation usually becomes more constrained to speculation about when a beta will drop and such. And speculation is usually at a slower pace at that point. And iOS 19 is on the horizon so many people are beginning to speculate about that as well. It’s natural for this thread to be a bit slower at this point, we can look at past speculation threads and see the same thing.
I disagree. It's got to do with the fact that the biggest feature that 18.4 was supposed to bring was the upgraded Siri, it's ability to view your iPhone display among with an array of announced enhancements to Apple Intelligence which aren't coming in 18.4. Nothing exciting about 18.4 other than perhaps the addition of Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro users
Go ahead, disagree. But we can look at past speculation threads and see a similar slowdown as speculation starts to pick up about the next big version…
That isn't what i disagree with you about and has nothing to do with why i replied to your post. 18.4 has nothing exciting to bring since the upgraded Siri and Apple Intelligence features were pulled out from the update
I actually am excited for 18.4 on my iPhone (which I don’t run beta versions on). It does bring some nice enhancements, even if they are somewhat minor. And I think a lot of people in other parts of the world who will get Apple Intelligence in 18.4 have reason to be excited for it. 👍🏻. But I get what you’re saying.
Going with 2 more betas (or a beta and a RC) before the public release.
Ok… I think … RC tomorrow. The Beta is running smooth so it can be the RC.
Yeah, it could be RC tomorrow. That would make the final public release likely very early in April, perhaps even April 1st! 😂👍🏻. In all seriousness though, they’d probably release it April 2nd or 3rd if that were the case. 👍🏻
Apple doesn’t release updates any sooner because one build runs any smoother than another. They have a pretty rigid schedule they stick to.
I am getting excited for iOS 19 myself. Since Siri is delayed, if Apple could at least get iOS 18 more polished I suppose that would be kinda exciting.
Today is hopefully new beta day!!! I’m think we’ll either get another beta or the RC today!!! 👍🏻
I think we'll see the RC version today. There's no point in another beta, since Beta 4 is running very well. And any minor bug fixes can be made in the RC version as well.
Again, why is it that people insist that Apple release their updates based on "feelings"? Release scheduling, including beta releases, is determined MANY months, if not even a year or so, in advance. They don't just decide to skip a release because "it feels right" 🤣
Some people don’t realize Apple releases their betas on a schedule though. So to them, it makes logical sense that if this beta is working well, then they could just move on to RC. Personally, I think there’s a good chance of an RC release today (feelings of stability aside). That would land final release very early in April, probably the 2nd or 3rd. But I could also see them doing another beta before RC. 👍🏻
With the AirPods Max news today I wonder if that means the RC is coming and they wanted to get the news out first.
Seems unrelated. Apple would write news to sync with the release, not the release candidate. But this might mean there are new features to test. So maybe a beta 5 before an RC? Who knows? I don't like it when they just add features at the end and don't wait for any testing, but it happened with 18.3 where new Visual Intelligence features were just activated without testing.
Beta 5 today. 7/8th April is still "early" April 🙃 (Hope you're correct).
I bet we will see the RC today - in less than one hour from now on
