With 18.0 on Mondays I think Tuesday would be more likely. At this point though I’m not even sure Apple is planning regular releases for 18.1

(Posted with latest Tapatalk beta, fingers crossed lol)
Nice. No emojixplosion. Usually any numbers in a post will trigger that.

How’d you get on the Tapatalk beta?

So there is hope for beta 2 next week.
Or it might be a longer gap. As it’s for testing the AI, it’s possible that we will only get new betas for when the add more of the AI features to test, unless they have bugs to fix that are not server side bugs.

People are starting to get extremely angry to not have a new iOS 18.1 Beta. I have so far taken two afternoons off of work to install this and I am tired of wasting my very limited time off. Come on Apple. This isn't that hard.
And let me say I'll give Apple until end of day today.

Wait, why are you taking time off work to install an iOS beta? Lol

18.1 beta 2 will most likely drop next Monday or Tuesday alongside 18.0 DB 6 / PB 4.

Two afternoons off? Betas just install while I'm doing something else. I criticize Apple as much as the next guy but can't really blame them for failing to meet your schedule expectations and the actions you took :) . There is typically at least a 2-week gap between a Beta 1 and Beta 2 release.

While I am certainly not blaming anyone other than myself for this, it is frustrating that Apple is continuing to add features to iOS18 Beta 5 that are not on 18.1 and those of us to jumped on the 18.1 bandwagon are now left behind on features with no dialog on when we catch up. Personally I wish I had not jumped to 18.1 and just stayed on the normal Beta cycle, but downgrading is a pain as I cannot make a backwards compatible backup, and you need to jump back to iOS 17.6 or something first.

This is the exact reason why I downgraded from 18.1 to 18.0. Do you have a backup of either 17.6 or 18.0? If you do, you can downgrade to 17.6.1, restore from 17 backup, then install 18.0, or downgrade to 17.6.1, set up as new (it will ask you if you want to stay on the beta when you're setting it up), install 18.0, then restore from an 18.0 backup.

While I do have the backups, it's more hassle than I want to take on just because I'm missing a couple of features that I don't actually care about, it's more a little bit of FOMO for missing out on anything, so I can't be bothered doing all the hassle when I'm sure, Monday or Tuesday or something it will go back to normal, but thank you for the suggestion.

Yeah, I can understand that. I also didn't want to be on beta software all the way until mid-October. I can just update to 18.0 RC when it releases in about a month and call it good.

When do you think iOS 18 betas will go weekly? With concurrent iOS 18.1 betas, everything's kinda unpredictable.
I think the general speculation is that we’ll go weekly for 18.0 starting Monday/Tuesday with DB 6. That would mean we’d have DB 8 on 8/26, then it would be about two weeks until 18.0 RC, around 9/9 or 9/10 after the September event. Then, 18.1 will most likely get a public beta around that time too.
