Nice to have higher expectations for this coming Monday/Tuesday!
I, for one, am expecting 18.1 beta 3.
That’s a given! 😁 but what new ai features will we see if any? 🤷♂️ Maybe nothing at all but bug fixes. 😳

I think it will be more than bug fixes. But it may only be something like turning up the sensitivity on the writing tools or something like that. But we have seen some evidence that the Genmoji user interface has been popping up, so you never know.
DB7 was already out last Tuesday (20 August), so what will probably happen is DB8 on Monday-Tuesday (26-27 August) and then RC on Tuesday, 10 September, after the event.

Probably on September 10th, as Mark Gurman reported yesterday.
Hope we see a beta 8 still, the battery life on my 15PM is not that good, especially the idle drain ! Took my phone from charger yesterday evening at around 9pm with 100% - woke up at 9am to 85%! And even was in low battery mode …Gurman is not ruling out additional 18.0 betas.
Or hopefully as you said @gwhizkids that it will be better with the RC!
If 18.0 is feature complete, the next 18.1 beta might introduce more changes, like Safari 18.1, etc. But I am more like expecting this to happen with Beta 4, now might still be a bit early.
All I know is that I need a new 18.1 beta: beginning at about 10pm last night, Shortcuts had decided to crash every time I tried to open it.
I bet we will see beta 8 of iOS 18.0 tomorrow and beta 3 of iOS 18.1
Definitely a good bit of issues on 18.1 so far. Getting a good amount of resprings and battery life on my 15 pro is not great.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Presto uses “MagSafe and other wireless technologies” to turn the phone on, apply the update, and turn it off again. It’s not totally clear what tech it’s using and when — iGeneration mentions NFC is involved, too — but still, pretty dang neat. An earlier report from iGeneration also mentions that the machines are connected to specific servers that can access software updates 24 hours ahead of their general release.
Beta 7 “could be” the RC Monday/Tuesday, we never know. RC might be a few builds newer, which wouldn’t be a surprise ether way.
It’s very reasonable to use the past few years as guidance with eight betas each then a RC. There also is no rush to speed things up given the 2 week delay before RC that works around Labor Day holiday also.

If I recall correctly, that’s a relatively slow process so it’s not going to work for hundreds of not thousands of phones at launch at any particular location.
Yes but the RC always comes out after the phone keynote. It has to be that way because the RC will have code including new features in the phones. But what we have now is probably “the RC minus those features”
Plus those that are shipped from manufacturing to us customers bypassing the Apple Store.
Interesting point, but what if this is also done at manufacturing on a larger scale? So Apple has their own variation of localized RSR technology for last min flow of finished goods before shipping? In other words the store variation is something that originated from the manufacturing process in use with iPhone production?
