I got a couple from my iOS 18 wishlist this year, but they were a little hard to find and not quite what I expected:
  • Hide apps. It’s there, but as a security feature and not a customization thing. It's also poorly implemented as I can't hide most of the Apple apps like Health, Fitness, Feedback, etc. The real issue is hiding apps breaks them. Hiding AdGuard disabled the extension in Safari. Makes sense as a security feature, but I just want a cleaner App Library where I don’t have to see apps I never/rarely launch, but still need. I need my Shokz app and my TP Link Tether app, but actually open them twice a year or so, so let me bury them until I specifically look for them.
  • Hide widget names. Using the large home icons, the widget names and icon names disappear. I was okay with icon names, don’t like the larger icons, but will take it.

Still waiting for in iOS 19:
  • An actual icon picker
  • Toggle for App Library to be the alpha sort by default instead of an additional gesture
  • Make the App Library alpha sort look more like the watchOS list view
  • Ability to rename/remove app category names in App Library and move apps between categories
  • Ability to rename (nickname) apps
  • Split screen apps
  • Get rid of the jelly wiggle when editing the home screen
  • Toggle to turn off or speed up FaceID animations
  • Turn off the annoying waveform animation in dynamic island
  • Dynamic island press action defaulted to the long-press action like it always should have been
  • Bring ye olde Dark Sky UI to that ugly Weather app
Hard agree

- Prevent apps from creating photo albums. Obviously I want to be able to send photos via WhatsApp, but I don’t like how WhatsApp automatically creates its own album.
-don’t know if it’s possible, but allow/block notifications from other communication apps based on who is sending me a message. For instance I want to receive messages from someone I text via WhatsApp during my sleep focus. I don’t want to allow all WhatsApp notifications through during that time.

I honestly don’t know what I’d ask for iOS 19, as iOS 18 left the system almost prefect for me.

iPadOS on the other hand…

Maybe that point could be addressed by letting us to, finally, be able to customize the App Library, both the list and the categories.

Let me delete photos and videos from a messages thread without deleting the whole thread. I’d gain so much iCloud storage back just by doing that.

If I understand what you want to do - you can just delete and item from a message thread - press and hold on the photo and select more from the list of things you can do and select delete - to get rid right way select edit from messages and look at deleted messages and delete them

Yeah I just discovered that afterwards. Trying to delete all of them at once crashed the messages app on my Mac. Even though I had multiple selected on the Mac, it was only deleting one at a time.

And doing it on the iPhone locked the app up, so I had to do a few hundred at a time, still locking the app up though force closing and reopening shows the photos/videos were actually deleted.

Luckily I have an external keyboard for my iPhone, holding shift to select a lot at once has saved me from tapping the screen a few thousand times.

Edit: Do this by tapping on the person’s name up top, scroll down to photos and tap see all. Then you can select one photo at a time, or with a keyboard, hold shift to select multiple.

Then tap on “Download images from the cloud”, it’ll download 20-30 and rinse and repeat deleting more.

No easy way to delete all of them at once without deleting the whole message thread.

iOS 19
  • Dynamic wallpapers like in Mac OS
  • Changes to the Stocks App. I would love for it to include new tabs that show global currencies, a currency convertor and a way to view my portfolio.
  • Allow old iPhone wallpapers to be downloaded like on the Mac. It would be even better if they were updated to be dynamic.
  • A more detailed transaction history in the Wallet App, similar to Apple Card.
  • Icon redesign for Maps, Contacts, Reminders, Stocks and Weather so that they blend better with the other Dark Mode icons. Also, the dark mode icon for the Weather App should be showing a moon, not a sun.
  • Better understanding of active subscriptions using Apple intelligence.
  • App Library overall or removal
  • Automated Memoji for contact images based on photos

CarPlay
  • Custom wallpaper
  • Dark mode icons
  • Less obtrusive call screen that takes away from maps
  • Widgets
  • Apple Maps favourites that we can manually input and quickly access (4-5 options)
i would love it if the app library could be hidden.

also a better way to manage apps, perhaps a menu inside the settings to manage what apps are on what pages.

  • Systemwide Private Relay (Or even better, add option to choose country, like real VPN)
  • Battery status on all Apple Account associated devices in the Battery Widget. It works with AirPods 4 ANC, and AirPods Pro 2. It should also be possible to see your battery status on your MacBook, in the iPhone battery widget, and vice versa.
  • Option to remove labels from App Icons without making them large.
  • Option to remap the camera button (iPhone 16 series) to other, non-camera apps.
  • More settings for App Library. Option to move apps in other categories and let's choose whether we want to show or hide "Recent Apps" and "Suggestions". Speaking of App Library - how about ditching Launchpad in MacOS and making it App Library?
  • Drop dark app icons in the settings app when the icons in the rest of the system are not in dark mode. I've been using Dark Mode since iOS 13, but I want to not see the dark app icons in the Settings app when I haven't selected dark icons in the rest of the system.
  • This is more of a hardware thing. But add reverse charging, so I can put my AirPods, or Apple Watch on the back of my iPhone, to give them some power, just like you have been able to on Samsung for many years. It's a super smart feature.

You can hide Suggestions. Under the Siri settings, toggle off Show in App Library.

This. I’m in the process of setting my new phone from scratch, and I’d love to declutter and limit the amount of home screens I have, but the App Library being how it is right now makes it unusable for me. Kinda frustrating, cause it could be such an elegant option if it wasn’t so rigid.

Now 18 has been out for a few months and the dust has settled, it might be time for a renewed discussion on this topic.

- Windows Phone-style 'Kids Mode' where a swipe from the lockscreen opens up a sandbox of chosen apps for your kids to mess around with without accessing any of your own data. Not sure where Apple are on encouraging kids to play with phones!

- More colour options for the tinted icons. Currently the hue selection is a little limited. I'd also like the option of tinted icons on white backgrounds.

- Remove the notification shade. Put the notification stack underneath the window cards in the multitasking view which then fans upwards on a swipe or press. Allows access with one hand.

- Move control center to the RH-side of the multitasking view, acting as a slightly off-screen top card.

- Replace the camera swipe on the lockscreen with control centre access. We have too many camera access options as it is.

- Manual camera app or options. These options were on my Lumia a decade ago!

- Apple Intelligence rewrite on iCloud.com isn't an iOS issue but would still be most welcome.

Regarding customisation, I’d really like Apple let us replace icons of WebApps, such as the MacRumors one, instead of relying on the snow-white favicons some websites have, that completely destroy the dark look of the Home Screen.

iPhone external display/stage manager support would be nice to have. I’d love to use my iPhone as my only computer with a Nexdock or something.

Yes for apps, not sure it’s possible for webapps. But anyways, even if it was possible, I hate having the shortcuts notification every time I open MacRumors webapp.
I'm glad its not just me that dislikes that!

Just another reminder to Apple that we need a toggle to turn off the Homebar or we are all buying Androids.

Also, let us remove remove icon/widget labels when using normal sized icons!

Bring the iPad dock to the iPhone, the screen has gotten huge, yet Apple hasn’t taken advantage of the larger screen size at all. It’s one of the best jailbreak tweaks, the iPad shouldn’t get all the good stuff.

My reply for iOS/iPadOS 19 is A12 SoC and later as a minimum requirement

And it looks likely to be true

They have a bad track record of this but I believe it will be the case.

1. The 7th Gen iPad is the weakest thing in which OS 18 supports and it has the A10 it’s so definitely gone from the list

2. For the 3rd Gen Pro it will be the 7th major OS and the 8th Gen iPad it’s 5th major OS and because of those two combined for the Air 3 and Mini 5 iPadOS 19 will be they’re 7th major OD Update so it’s the last update for all A12 devices with the possible exception of A12Z because the A12Z supports 6GB

3. For the 8th Gen iPad in addition to it having the A12 it’s the last device to come in 32GB of Storage

4. As major Android manufacturers have now 7+ years of os support ( and the Snapdragon Elite taking that to 8 years) XR and XS will be the first smartphones to support 7 years of OS Updates

5. And considering Air 2 received 7 OS Updates and managed to get 8 full years of iPadOS it means any Air/Mini/future iPhone will receive more support finally around the Air 2 level (it will take the budget iPad many years to receive that level

Waiting for digital guys response
