iOS 26 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Yes, I had this issue. It seems like either the service that serves up these pictures is down or the new code in beta two is not able to communicate with it. The only way to fix it is to assign a new poster.

if you go into individual contact, you will see their background to be black and if you try to add it, you will get a message. Something like asset is not available meaning that it cannot find the image that was used as a poster.

I had a problem assigning a new avatar photo to my wife’s contact in 26. Whether I chose poster or avatar it always set poster. IOS18 shows her with an avatar, I hope it is not a design change.
 
On a positive note - I really like the “Bottom” tabs layout in the new Safari. It still collapses to a small address bar when we scroll, but gives us much more control compared to the “Compact” one, enabled by default in iOS 26.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Spotify in CarPlay, and probably Spotify in general when on cellular, is constantly going in offline mode. Anyone else experiencing this? I never used to see this prior to beta 2, and now its happening constantly, even on a restart.

I've had been seeing that too, so I did a hard reboot. Things seem better since then.

Syncing is still slow at times. I don't know if this is because of the beta or icloud issues. Since I've seen ths slowness outside of the yesterday's reports icloud problems, I am GUESSING the slowness is due to the beta.
 
Randomly, when I type a long text in a messaging app, the app crashes. I don't know if it's the keyboard or something, because if I don't type, the apps work without errors. It's happened to me on Telegram and Instagram.

Having the same issue, I filed a feedback on it (FB18314468). I tried removing and adding the faves back but it doesn't work.

Had the same in Facebook messenger and WhatsApp. Just freezes

on my iPhone 13 pressing the power button on an incoming call sent it to voicemail. I generally prefer to press the volume up or down once to silence the ringer. Would that work for you?
 
Everything was great till my iPhone 16 Pro suddenly restarts itself after updating Beta 2. I think it's related to my HomePod mini. When homepod connected to my MacBook, it happens. Three restarts today. It never happened before.

All unknown phone calls went straight to voicemail. I'm not sure about calls from my contacts. Because of this huge bug, I had to return to iOS 18.

On last few 18.5 betas and 20 these have been lost on my phone, although AOK on Mac. Looks like pics not syncing

Same thing on By Belkin 3 in 1 Qi2 charger. Starts charging when placed on charger and then sliently stops. Took me a couple of days of an almost flat phone to work out what was happening. Documented and reported to Apple via Feedback.

Anyone else getting very erratic connectivity on Wi-Fi and 5G? This has been going on ever since 18.5 beta on my 16 Pro Max, and it continues on 26 beta2. I can be happily connected and using the phone, and suddenly things requiring internet connectivity will just stop. This happens on Wi-Fi or 5G. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone or switch everything on and off again. Have reported to Apple

It feels like something with the image processing has changed in general. I also think the video from the camera of my MacBook Pro is a bit crispier.

Hi, have you also noted this issue with carplay? Element showing time to arrival and distance in Google maps in day mode is too transparent.

Does the Face ID animation work for you for unlocking your iPhone? Face ID phone unlock works fine but I have no animation indicating Face ID is being used. It’s simply not there. Is that a bug or a feature?
