iOS 26 RC ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Well, just as I expected, none of the visual bugs I reported have been fixed in the RC including:

• The clear apps icon theme and tinted app icons theme still show visual issues flickering to dark mode or default theme on icons and widgets when launching them and returning to home screen.
• When going into a conversation in iMessage, the text box has a rough animation between transitioning from the search bar to the text box field where it breaks up and then merges into one text box.

*Major yikes* <s> For a visual overhaul, this is miles better than what has happened in years past. These are annoying but mainly noticeable if you happen to be discerning enough to notice it. They will quietly refine over the coming months and then the design language will be set for the next few years. It still is miles better in terms of feeling more alive than the flat design of 7-18.

Nope.

First boot, first scroll to the second Home Screen, had to draw all the icons.

Yep visual bugs still here. Didn’t even update the default wallpaper in display settings. I except an RC 2. At least this should be stable and longer battery due to no more background indexing or not as much. Anybody notice any difference in features?

Does the dock remove the glass effect with the search icon visible?

Does the search icon in photos still glitch out when you scroll to the bottom of your photos?

Inside of Folders still have the correct icon color, but it changes when you exit the folder. I reported the feedback a while ago, but haven't had an update.

Found something new. If you customize home screen icons, now there's two new buttons (the two on the left), haven't quite figured out what they do, but i noticed the one on the left changes the tinted icons a bit.

Update: I think the button all the way in the left makes the icons tinted and more translucent /glassy. I like the effect.

With all the issues Apple had with the AI release, or lack there of, last year, you'd think they'd at least want all the visual bugs resolved prior to releasing an all new OS on the general public. But, "good enough" is the new standard.

I’m disappointed that there’s still so many visual bugs present on the finale release. I just think it’s lazy and off-setting that the all new redesign is so full of small visual glitches. I know that 90% of the customers don’t care but it’s not the old Apple that always had focus on the small details.

Also, at least for me on an iPhone 15 Pro Max when I try to block an unknown number from a spam text when clicking. "Block Contact" nothing happens. It use to work before all be it very slowly. But now it seems I can't block anymore...

That will remain until you turn beta updates off and restart. That’s what I’ve always had to do when I had gone as far as I wanted on beta releases. If you’re continuing to have betas enabled FBA should remain.

The new customize icons button looks like it makes the app icons a tiny bit more translucent and glassy? Not sure, but if you look at the HBO Max app icon, i can see more of the background on the left one (the new tinted option).

I did not spend $2100 for a broken OS.

IF you're not seeing the Beta update available, turn off Beta Updates and then turn them back on. It should show up then.

I have it on and it showed up for me.

Apparently there's a Gold Master (GM) version that also just dropped? according to Discord.

No Gold Master but a release candidate.

Apple haven’t called their near finished build gold master for years!
