I think it depends on how well Apple considers iOS 26.4 to be ready for beta release. We'll either see a beta 4 of 26.3 to buy time, or we'll go directly to RC this week.

Really hoping that they skip the GM and 26.3 ships soon, with a 10-15% improvement to battery life on 16 Pro. I am finally happy with the stability and performance of 26, and a little bit more battery life would make it perfect.

What's so exiting about a 26.3 beta? there's really not much more to expect from it. lets talk about 26.4 instead...
Honestly I think most user of this forum are looking forward to 26.4 which will most likely not be released before the 26.3 final… means also 26.3 is highly exciting just for that reason.

Uff all the time this battery talk 😩
I don’t think that you’re going to see such an improvement.

I think RC first and when they reveal the new MacBooks they also announce the release date for the final release

You realise that 26.4 has nothing to do with 26.3 right? There will be different people working on it.

The thing is, if what Apple has developed for iOS 26.4 doesn't meet a minimum quality standard, an extra week of work will do them good. That's where iOS 26.3 beta 4 comes in. It has nothing to do with the number of people working on it, but rather the state of the product. Even though it's released as beta 26.4, everyone is eager to try out all the new features, and Apple needs it to be in the best possible condition.

I think they would just release 26.3 when it’s planned/ready, and just have more of a gap between the 26.3 release and first betas for 26.4 if they needed more time to develop 26.4. They’ve done this before. It’s not like they have to drag their feet on 26.3 to make time to develop 26.4. While it’s true that normally Apple release betas for the next version shortly after public release of the prior version, that is not always the case. They aren’t required to do that. So I really wouldn’t think 26.3 has anything to do with 26.4 development time.

Also, reports seem to indicate 26.4 is dropping mid-February. If that’s the case, then 26.3 RC this week and 26.3 public release next week would make sense and be consistent with those reports. 👍🏻
